So, I did some number crunching and according to Sports-reference.com, since ODU became a Division 1 school in 1976:

Lowest final scores for ODU:

1) Nov 18, 2021 ODU 36 - Indiana State 77 --- Coach: Jeff Jones (sick, Stith filling in) -- Net score -41 (worst in ODU history in Division 1)

2) Mar 02, 2023 ODU 36 - Texas State 65 --- Coach: Jeff Jones -- Net Score -29

3) Feb 15, 2014 ODU 37 - Tulsa 76 --- Coach: Jeff Jones -- Net Score -39

4) Nov 21, 2015 ODU 39 - Purdue 61 --- Coach: Jeff Jones -- Net Score -22

5) Mar 03, 1996 ODU 39 - UNCW 59 --- Coach: Jeff Capel -- Net Score -20

6) Dec 06, 2016 ODU 39 - Rhode Island 51 --- Coach: Jeff Jones -- Net Score -12

In 2015, the shot clock was shortened to 30 seconds to encourage more possessions.

I was going to look up lowest scores in the 30 second shot clock era. Sub 40 totals were supposed to be a thing of the past but Old Man Jones Found A Way.

I was a Freshman at my first CAA tournament. We beat JMU the night before. The bus ride up was a blast. The bus ride home was decidedly less fun.

Wow. 5 out of 6 of those disasters are on Jeff Jones. He’s the worst.

Obviously our next head coach can’t be named “Jeff.”

Actually surprised Blaine wasn't on the list. Definitely had rock fights in that era too. Just the other team was usually a little lower.
