Love: ODU only leaves the state of Virginia 3 times next year (Marshall, USM and Georgia Southern)
Change: We have 3 home games in September but only one in October. I'd prefer to spread those out a little better.

RE: One thing you love and one thing you’d change re: your football schedule
I really dislike how we seem to play a juggernaut in football each year.

https://fbschedules.com/ncaa/wku/

I also dislike the double P5's in a single year (unless it is part of a home and home like the Indiana and soon to be P5 Cincy games are).

I wish we would schedule more guarantee games vs. the Mississippi States and Missouris of the world and less against the Ohio State and Alabamas.

I don't mind playing MAC programs home and away, but we seem to have loaded up our OOC schedule until 2028 with them. That leaves 1 guarantee game and 1 home FCS game a year until then. Was really hoping to be able to get Marshall and UAB on the football schedule before we forget that we used to play each other.

I'm very interested to see how the National Television schedule shakes out. App has been on national TV what seems like half of their season for the past few years. With more Saturday games, I'm hopeful that will remain the case.

I've always said MU should play the smaller fish in the big conferences.. the Mizzous, Indiana, etc. and get outta the MAC (except for OH for obvious reasons) Sadly, I'm pretty sure my road game in a few years is that barn burner in Kalamzazoo, if only so I can go watch the Red Wings

You never know if you will win those games though. App is 2-3 in their last five against AP Top 10 teams and had a real shot at being 4-1, with OT losses at Penn State and Tennessee. It looks bad now but one of these days, Ohio State or Alabama are going to drop a game they shouldn't. WKU is one of those teams that OSU and Alabama try to stay away from as well so I'll be tuning in.

yeah it sucks when its 56-9. But WKU has the been the kind of team the last few years that if OSU or Bama has an off day and WKU lights out...

It's common knowledge, UK won't play The Herd because they already have enough losses in conference play

The h/h with Cincy is nice. Hopefully, they don't back out now that they are in the Big 12.

Why do the "big" schools draw well on Thanksgiving weekend, but not "little" schools? We had 28K the last time we played on Thanksgiving Saturday. The game is two days later. Plenty of time to do the family thing and get back home then to campus. Students have to come back the next day anyway.

One of the best home schedules in a long time.
Love- The local OOC games.
Change - The Coastal game to at least a Thursday Night.

I like no 3 game stretches either way, as in 3 home games in a row or 3 away games in a row. Sadly happens more than it should.

What I don't like is for the second year in a row the Sun Belt has us ending the season with 2 away games. That's absolutely unacceptable in my mind. I get half the league is going to end their season on the road but it should never be the last two games.

Love the home slate. Best we’ve had in a long time if not ever. Also love that basically every game is easy to get to. Only thing I’d change is moving our bye until later in the year.

AState Kinda cool: We have a 3 game home stand that includes Memphis and USM, which would have been a dream for our fan base 15 years ago, and now its more of "Hey, we might be able to beat those guys"

AState Hate: One October Home game, and its freaking homecoming, against freaking Coastal of all teams.

It still baffles me how we haven’t played more over the years. We are so similar and not terribly far apart- and sit on the same highway!

Never had an issue making it to a game in Boone on Thanksgiving weekend. We lived in WS and visited family on Thursday & Friday, but were back home in plenty of time to make it to Boone on Saturday. I personally don't know people who make long trips to be with family, so I could be in the minority here, but from what I've seen first hand over the years the Thanksgiving holiday is more of a convenient excuse than actual reason for not making it to the game on Saturday.

You might not travel for Thanksgiving (same for me) but Thanksgiving dates are the busiest travel days of the year, so it is an issue. And it’s not only an issue for fans, but we have to also think about the students paying their student fees that go to their hometowns for Thanksgiving. Mama wants them to stay home as long as they can, not go back to campus “for a football game.” We only get 6 (usually) home games a year and I don’t like home games during this weekend and I’m glad we don’t have one this year. Attendance at those games always stinks.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve are the two busiest travel days of the year. For those not making long trips getting to a game a couple hours away on Saturday shouldn't be an issue. Students staying home is totally understandable, but they've been home 3 days and have to come back the next day anyway. They're probably ready to get back and let loose a bit anyway. As I said, I've never had an issue with traffic. IMO it's more a matter of want to. We had 28K show up for App's last Thanksgiving weekend game. Back when we were FCS and it was the first round of the playoff attendance was awful, esp prior to the 3 NC's. I think it had as much to do with who we were playing as to the day we were playing. Again, people seemed to use it as a convenient excuse.

Where were you visiting family? And was gas $4 a gallon? That's the issue a lot of people are running into. I live in Greensboro and generally have to drive out near the Outer Banks, then back to SW Virginia, then back down to Greensboro. It's probably a solid 700 to 800 miles of driving. Obviously that's one example but I'm sure others have similar stories.

I'm just wanting TXST @ Marshall because my daughter would be able to make that game; as she lives outside Pittsburgh. (4 hr drive but, still)

Although............JMU is about the same distance.

She hasn't been able to make a TXST game since 2011.

Did she make the JMU trip last year? It was a really wet and miserable day, hopefully we'll get a better one in five or six years 03-lol We always seem to get at least one or two miserable games a year though, I guess it kinda makes sense that the Withers Bowl would be one of them.
