William and Mary
I started a new thread as the old one was too painful. Why didn't Chris start today? I'd like to say the defense and ball movement has been better the last 3 halves but I will wait for some improved competition next Thurs/Sat

RE: William and Mary
You led 45-25 at halftime and won 69-57. Telfort shot field goals 12-23 and scored 28. Nobody else on either team attempted more than 9 field goals. Telfort tied King for the most assists with 4. Turner was your other double-digit scorer with 10. Pridgen had 8 points and 8 rebounds. Ben Wight led W&M with 15 points. W&M had only 5 assists. The difference was points off turnovers. W&M committed 3 more turnovers, and you had 16 more points off turnovers, 26 to 10. It is a moot point, but your last position started with 30.2 seconds left, so it was incorrect for the referees to let the game end without calling a shot clock violation.

I guess that one possibility is that it was to prevent him from getting into early foul trouble.

And it STILL didn’t work.

Doherty has one speed and that is full out. Him spending time on the bench because of foul trouble has not been helpful. But the only way it makes sense to not start him is if the staff has tried everything they know to get him to back off a little and it hasn't got through to him. Still, it's a little late in the game to be sending him this strong a message. This could also be a message to Alex......"Get ready to be our next five."

I thought Alex was being set up for that anyway. I’m just surprised it took this long because he deserved more minutes.

Yeah. It's time to look to the future. Get as many minutes as possible for the guys who are going through have step up next year. I guess that includes Turner. I didn't know Stucke was graduating this year.

I definitely agree with more minutes for the other guys. Could have happened long ago for sure. My only surprise was the timing. It was senior day so I figued he'd at least start and play a minute or two before subbing

NU hosts W&M Saturday afternoon after getting thumped at home by UNCW Thursday night.

I want to say NU should win this one, but they have been so woefully inconsistent, I can also see them lose this one as well.

RE: William and Mary
That was an absolutely abysmal performance against a team that is terrible. We are so bad on both ends it boggles my mind at times. I really am extremely disappointed in this sophomore class as no one has stepped up to take on a larger role.

Someone mentioned that we are a bad three-point shooting team in a previous post. That’s true but we contribute to our poor shooting with horrible shot selection.

Is Pridgen ever going to decide to play?

Anyway, nobody cares at this point. It’s a dead program devoid of leadership on and off the court. Even the radio broadcasts get worse every year. Even if you want to go the student route, are there not 2 kids at the school who understand basketball?

RE: William and Mary
Bill gets a ball commemorating him being the winningest coach in CAA history. Sounds more like a boobie prize. The best coaches that have been in this conf. have moved on to better programs, leaving us in a watered down CAA. Calling him a legend, which I have heard thrown around by admins at NU is a complete misuse of the word. This is just a case of longevity. Can we start using the word moribund?

Pridgen has apparently left the team...

This just adds to the mess.

Well, you've noticed that he was starting for us and then recently coming off the bench right?

He's probably at odds with Coen. That's the best I can give you...

I feel badly for these kids in some ways. 3 schools, never settling in. Feels like it's either a lack of guidance or being fed false expectations. Either way, I sure hope kids like this find their way. The real world is already tough enough when you enter the workforce etc. I hope he finds his happiness somewhere. This is not about Joe specifically. It's about the hundreds of Joes that this new era of college sports has bred.

Couldnt agree more. Unfortunately the portal has made chasing the dream or kicking the can down the road easier and more the norm. Coaches heads are spinning with all the transfers and have less time to develop kids into men. (Not excusing Bill's history here by any means)

Yeah.....and his minutes had dropped from the thirties to the twenties to the teens in his last five games.......as the youngsters (and Bryce) were earning more minutes.
