One correction. Louisiana plays Marshall. They miss Georgia Southern

Or South at 6th...geese they are always a tough out for us.
According to Coach Calvi "this is the newest team we have had in a long time."
I think we return 3 position starters, center field, second base, and catcher.
Our starting pitching will probably be a freshman, a couple of jucos and a starting pitcher that was injured last year.

ODU fans will certainly know better than me, but this may be a rebuilding year for them. I think they lost a lot of really good hitters from last year's team.
ODU has to replace several of their normal everyday starters from last year and most of them put up strong HR totals -
C - Gagliardi
1B - Coutney
SS - Bell
LF - Garriola
RF - Trice
DH - Petracci
ODU has picked up the following notable players -
C - O'Neal, 5'-10", 218 lbs, JR, S/R
1B - Fitz-Gerald, 6'-5", 230 lbs, JR, L/R
1B/OF - Ticer, 6'-7", 245 lbs, JR, L/R
UTL - Grimes, 5'-10", 200 lbs, SR, R/R
Coach Finwood was asked about the team losing so much power from last season and didn't seem very concerned. He indicated that this team hit more home runs during the fall competition than the guys from last year's team did. He said that last week one of the new guys - Ticer - hit a home run that their version of stat-cast measured as being 480'. Ticer played for the same Junior College team - Colby CC - that they recruited Coutney from, and like Coutney he played 1B (and some OF), batted 3rd or 4th, and hit lots of home runs. All that being said, it's going to be tough for ODU to match the level of play from the last 2 or 3 seasons.
I've included a link to a podcast where the ODU coach is answering questions about this 2023 ODU baseball team. The best of it starts about 6 minutes into the podcast.

Lots of reason to be optimistic. I thought 7th was too low despite who we lost but looking at who’s ahead of us it’s tough to argue. Stacked conference, should be a real fun year.

Kyle Debarge, SS, not listed is a head scratcher.

Dickerson from southern miss Is really good. Statistically slightly better than Debarge, but Kyle should take a huge step forward in year 2.
