Transfers that couldn’t see the field at their former schools, transfers that think they can play play at a higher level. 1/3 of your roster turning over every year. Mix in a few High School kids. Did team chemistry get better? Worse? What a crap shoot. You just don’t know. You could be TCU and exceed the expectations, or you could be A&M and way underperform.
If you think you know how things will go for your team next season, you're just guessing. I don’t know if this is good or bad for football in the long run.

You are correct to a large degree Oscar, but who and how you recruit a player can still make a difference. The transfer portal has worked both for and against schools. It's a natural reality now. We have no guarantees, but what I like is how we filled immediate needs while still recruiting a large portion of HS players. Last year we went for more transfers out of necessity. This year our coaches looked to balance things out and are still trying to play the long game. There is a lot that goes on to find players that fit our school, culture and system. That can help reduce transfer outs each year, but makes no promises. Most players, without the portal, don't have the mindset to stick it out at a given program.
