Signing Day
Today is national signing day for college football. So, is UC signing anybody today. It seems Satterfield and Co. are not exactly burning up the recruiting trails. Disappointed in their haul thus far especially when compared to regional rivals such as UofL, WVU, UK, etc. Fickell has flipped a number of our previous commits, but Satterfield has had much more limited success flipping prior Louisville commits. Seems awfully quiet today in Clifton—-at least so far.

RE: Signing Day
I think there are about 5 scholarships still available, but I think they are looking to fill them through the portal

RE: Signing Day
To add to my post. It's a small high school class, but by average rating a pretty talented one.
I would guess they want to use the remaining scholarships on at least 2 more transfer offensive lineman, 2 more transfer dbs and another WR.
I'm sure they'll also take really elite quality at the other spots.
I think they've done a damn good job with the transfer portal so far. They've added a 4 star CB, Multiple 3 star wide receivers (from Wazzou, Louisville, FSU), a talented kicker, a 3 star linebacker (from Louisville), A 3 star safety from ASU, a couple 3 star offensive lineman, and a 3 star QB (former 4 star recruit) who is a great fit for what Satterfield likes to do.
And two of our better transfers haven't been rated yet (Grzesiak, an edge rusher many were after, and Radosevich an interior offensvie lineman).
I've been pretty happy with what they have done.

X2 and also an experienced tight end in Joey Beljan.

OT, I know but my son just accepted an invitation to play FB at DIII Thiel College in Greenville, PA. (Almost to the OH/PA border, near Youngstown, OH). Also had interest from Otterbein in Westerville...
Since it's a slow newsday...

Are you ever not happy with anything UC does?
Looking at the average rating of UC's class its better than you think.
247sports has our team ranking based on total points as 77th. But if you use average player rating we're 33rd which is tremendous. Better talent trumps more heads.

Over the long haul you need both because you won't hit on everyone. But during a transition season, with a coaching change, I'll the high average rating and worry about a deeper freshman class when they have a full recruiting season.

RE: Signing Day
I thought I heard an interview where CSS said they were pretty much done with high school for this class and were going to fill the remaining spots through the portal.

My response to that would be is there a reason your son would want to attend Thiel College besides football? If the answer is yes, then congratulations all around!

Well...we did sign a local kid. A long snapper. Weston Simmons out of Mason HS.
Is he officially the first local HS signee of the Scott Satterfield era?

I guess you could consider Evan Tengesdahl a local, but he was committed before just signed with Satt.

I've been to Thiel twice when my Daughter played Soccer against them, she played for Thomas More. There's a very historic Cemetery right next to the football/soccer field that we walked through before her game started. Dates back to the 1700's. Enjoy the 4 year ride it goes quick!

Congrats to you and your son. I appreciate you sharing.
Let me add my congratulations. DIII players are true student athletes and he can continue to play the sport he loves.
