Last game: A back and forth first half…10-5 JMU, 12-10 ULM, 18-12 JMU and finally 27-26 ULM @HT. JMU opened the 2nd half 12-2 and led the rest of the way to a 58-45 victory as JMU held ULM to 30% FG and 4-20 3s. Mezie Offurum led the Dukes with 15 pts (5-8 FG, 2-3 3s, 3-3 FT), Terrence Edwards had 12 (5-10 FG, 0-1 3, 2-2 FT) and Vado Morse had 11 (4-10 FG, 2-5 3s, 1-2 FT). JMU looked pretty good when I saw them vs. Marshall and UVA but thats why it's important to look at more than a small sample of games.

Their second best win this season is an OT win over Troy.

I expect this to be another tough game. They play fast...and turn it over a lot. Good rebounding team. Decent shooting (except FTs). They generate a lot of turnovers on defense and guard the 3 point line, but they can be had inside the paint.

The offense has been much worse without TSG and Stanley, but the defense improved over the past 2 games. If we can get the team to play decent defense with those guys in the lineup, we could make a run.

Have to take the level of competition into account as well when addressing the better defense over the past 2 games. South Alabama and Coastal are a combined (7-13) in conference, and (19-25) overall.

Yes, our deficiency compared to the opponents offensive efficiency showed improvement over the past 2 games.

USA had 0.93 PPP and Coastal had 0.89

The were sooooooo lucky to tie that Troy game at the end of regulation and push OT. Crazy sequence.

Taking care of the ball will be key, can't let them turn us over and create points. Even though we're at home they'll have enough there to make some noise so can't let the get that momentum cause they do like playing downhill. Definitely winnable. Definitely losable. Man, I hope we win.

At this morning's basketball breakfast, TSG said that he will be playing tomorrow night.

Looking forward to renewing the conference home & away series every year. This matchup should look closer to rugby than to basketball. Lots of athletes and too little basketball skill.

To be honest, I wished we tried hard enough on defense to commit a foul every possession.

I don't really like the matchup. Their rebounding...particularly on the offensive side is gonna be a problem. I also don't like our ballhandling.

We are really gonna have to tighten up the turnovers and figure out a way to convert in the paint.

If we were good, and this was a Saturday game, I could see it. As it is, no way. Im sure there will be some sell outs in the future though.

Should also note that recent sell outs required a decent showing from visiting fans. We have been playing JMU throughout the CUSA years and they don’t normally bring many fans.

I agree with this. Our ball handing issues scare me. We have been pretty loose with it lately. However, on the flip side, if we can solve the ball handling issue we should get some good drives to the basket.
