Perhaps. This GSU team has been consistently blown out by 10pts or more in conference games this year. Southern Miss was perhaps the most winnable one for Hayes' squad.

I think ULM is in good position to finish in the 4th to 6th place range. We have USA, USM and the Cajuns on the road with Troy, App St, and stAte at home. Won't be easy by any means but we need to find a way to finish 4-2 over the final 6 games. 3-3 might work but we are sitting at the top of the log jam for the middle of the pack with 2 games against teams right behind us. I don't think it will matter a whole lot if we lose to USM or the Cajuns but it would definitely be nice to steal one of those. The rest are pretty much must win games.

Ah, yes. The epic struggle of dots vs stripes.
I’m actually a fan of the warmup’s. My favorite in College Basketball is Indiana.

Looks like the local road crew the sheriff is guarding while they pick up trash.

We've seen a trend with the Warhawks. They are capable of beating anyone in the league on Thursday, but, with no depth, they can't get anything done on a Saturday. I expect that to continue.

No one will win the league title Thursday in Hattiesburg. But:

A Cajuns win gives them a defacto two game lead in the Sun Belt, as they would own the tiebreaker head to head over Southern Miss if the two teams wind up tied.

A Golden Eagles win puts USM in good shape as their schedule is favorable in the final five games. It will be important for them to win out if Marshall holds on to 3rd. If USM wins but the teams wind up tied at the end, Cajuns get the tiebreaker if Marshall is third. Cajuns have yet to play JMU.

Thanks Jay, was wondering about the various scenarios.

But correct me if I’m wrong, the conf champion (and the ncaa berth) is awarded to whomever wins the tourney, correct? And at this point both USM and UL have the best seeding for the tourney anyway, so other than pride, what real impact is the game Thursday? Don’t get me wrong, nothing more than I’d like to see than us win Thursday, and the rest of the season.

The winner of the regular season get an automatic bid to the NIT if they not win the tournament.

Yeah, well the fact this is even debatable pretty much tells you all you need to know about those odds. Remember, we were picked to finish dead last by anyone and everyone that knows anything about basketball and that includes me. Maybe they will finish 9-9. That's still a whole heck of a lot better than anyone expected and WAY better than stAte.
