I hope you are right.
Still, if the players are not listening, then Stan has lost the locker room. If the players are bad actors, that is on Stan. He recruited all but one of his scholarship players.

Agree with the points. In the TRANSFER PORTAL ERA a coach does not need 5 years to rebuild.
He got a ton of transfers so the rebuild should be expediated. In year #2 should be equal to say year #3 (at least).

The only other comment I have is that sports are now more crazy (or crazier?) than ever. If you think this is hyperbole, look at the Lions. They were dogs last year. Dogs for half of this season and now NO one wants to leave the Lions. Sounds like the players and coaches have found heaven on earth. A football version of Lazarus.
Next year EMU MBB could win 5, 10, 15, or 20 games. I have NO idea.

I don’t know ‘79
Players that I believe would transfer out after this season Farrakhan, Golson, Lovejoy. Nobody wants to play on a 7-21 team. Farrakhan has regressed, Golson should get major starting minutes but rarely plays and Lovejoy will probably go to a winning program.
Bates will probably be gone even though he’s not ready for NBA yet.
That leaves us with Geeter (too slow), Billingsley (too slow).
Heath dismissed Golson & Jihad to begin this season and tried to develop Billingsley and Geeter. Clearly Golson and Jihad are better players.
After this season, the less talented players may stay and the talented players may leave.
This program has really taken a nose dive in year two by being the worst D1 defensive team in the country and by having the worst record in the conference. If Heath could coach the team to play fundamental basketball and have 12-14 wins I would agree. It doesn’t take 5 years for a decent coach to turn a basketball program around. Football? yes! Basketball? Absolutely not!
Look at Akron when their coach went to Duquesne! Groce literally was left with walk ons, and it took him one season to compete again! Ohio U was picked dead last 3 seasons ago, we were picked 2nd to last, and compare Ohio U to us in this short span! Heath needs to wins 7-8 MAC games with these players! The MAC West is not great this season either! We're 4-14 and1-4 in the MAC! We'll dreamed about winning the MAC, and going dancing! Heath isn't some rookie first head coach either, this is his 15th season as a head coach! You should always hire a winner, and his resume didn't show that when we hired him! He's 30 games below .500 as a coach, and that includes his one season at Kent St where he went 30-6! N Illinois should absolutely be a win at home!

It is my opinion that Coach Heath has failed miserably his first two years here at EMU. It is also is my opinion that Coach Heath has a clear historical record of success as a head coach (Glory disagrees. But I acknowledge he raises some counter arguments worth considering).
I will tell you that I am only 48 and I am no longer of peak capability in my career. Perhaps Coach Heath could have been a good coach at one time and is no longer. Or maybe he has too many players that are too young. Or maybe he doesn’t have the players he thought he would have and needs to retool next year. Or maybe, just maybe, his NBA Offense is bad, really bad, and it’s a downward, dysfunctional spiral from there. In any case, he will get 3 more years to show he can win. I will be rooting the whole way hoping he does. But yes, he deserves critique for his record at EMU thus far.
I am so glad this conversation has finally evolved from a bunch of grown men publicly bashing “free labor” players half which are still in their adolescence, to a bunch of grown men publicly bashing another grown man who is highly paid to do what he does

We are a 3 point underdog for Saturdays game. Attendance will fall through the floor if we lose this one.

I may be mistaken but I haven't seen Heath playing on the court during the games this season. The players and their lack of effort especially on defense don't get a free pass.

Most likely, my last game if we lose. The people who sit courtside can not believe how horrible the basketball has been this season. They’ve told me this is their last season with courtside seats

Ah but the trick is the chemistry of those transfers playing together as a team. What looks good on paper and recruiting rankings doesn't translate always on the court.

He has a career historical winning accomplishments? He has 5 winning seasons in 15 seasons as a head coach! One was at Kent St! So, in the real world if I did well 33 percent of my working career, I definitely wouldn't be in management! Below .500 career record I wouldn't call outstanding! Look at Tod K at Toledo, or Groce at Akron over their careers as a a head coach! I definitely want to see Heath succeed but realistically just making the MAC tournament will be considered an accomplishment! We can easily win 6-8 games in a row! The MAC West isn't great this season! We've more talent then N Illinois as well! Let's play like we did against Kent St, and I like our chances! Maybe let Ben Braun sit on the bench, and give some pointers!

Fair point on lack of defensive effort. But given half these guys are former Mr Basketball runner-ups, I can’t imagine they completely lack drive or effort. A frustratingly futile situation can easily lead to lack of effort.

Kent St beat Ball St tonight a little more handily than they beat EMU Tuesday. 86-65 (compared to 77-63)., For what it is worth.
Also Toledo beat Buffalo 86-77 tonight.

EMU is a 3 point FAVORITE per ESPN. -3 MEANS "GIVING" 3 POINTS.

Actually if Coach Heath actually got on the court this team wouldn't be last in the MAC in assists.
