I think a lot of players are now seeing the transfer portal at work. They're understanding if they don't solidify an early spot in the rotation, they see their time on the bench only grow. This will continue to be a by-product of teams recruiting immediate help from the portal.

Sad to see a player give up this quickly. In the immediate gratification world we live in it's just the norm now. I wonder if he'll transfer down a level

He will almost certainly have to drop down to D2 if playing time is what he is after. If he would rather get playing time in a D2 program than sporadic minutes at ETSU, that is fair. This frees up another scholarship for next year, so not all bad for ETSU either.

Interesting. Maybe coaches will be using the Portal as well - to free up scholarships.

Is probably a win/win for both. The place is now open for another transfer like Jalen, Josh or Justice to come in and play immediately. We have to be really careful when signing high schools players in this era of basketball. It was obvious his minutes were going to be very limited here.We have to work the portal to our advantage and compete for championships that way.

Changing times — like it or not — adaptation in this fast changing college athletics scene a necessary survival attribute for modern coaches — or find another line of work.
