FYI... as a SBC member you should have been cheering for the likes of UH & UCF... It could have created a much weaker narrative for someone leaving to win the conference.. Not only did none of the Big 12 teams win the AAC, overall it's very clear there isn't some huge gap between the Big 12 teams and multiple current and future American programs..

Having teams show out in the American and prove they are just as good as any team leaving only boosts the AAC perception even more. It also just shows you the potential the new 6 teams joining truly have.

This isn't the G5 vs P5 ladies and gents this is the American vs the G4, wake up.

Just wait until we start getting awarded a playoff spot every year..

You're going to need us to fail for your own sake, so bring it on Fun Belt and stop celebrating our accomplishments 03-wink

Yeah, but Tulane is an okay American Team. It would have been far more annoying had UCF gotten this spot.
Exactly. Its the UCF and UH i could go without seeing them win.

As a Southern Miss fan I have no trouble cheering on Tulane. The AAC is so far above us lowly SB teams that their Champ lost to a middle of the pack SB team.

New AAC and New Sun Belt we're equally mediocre this bowl season. These are facts:

New AAC went 4-4 in bowls
New Sun Belt went 3-4
New Sun Belt went 2-1 against the new AAC...

Also, Marshall beat ranked Notre Dame on the road. Both conferences will end the year with at least one ranked team.

Youre a fool if you think there's some great divide against us right now.

Id love to see a Tulane vs Troy matchup and wouldn't be at all surprised by a Troy victory. Thats why a G5 playoff would be cool. Unpopular opinion I know, but as long as they're only let one of us in on a bogus poll standing, it would be very cool to at least see the other champs play each other.

RE: So if Toolame gets their clock cleaned
I'm happy for Tulane. No football player goes to Tulane with aspirations of winning bowl games, much less going to one. I'd advise anyone to go to the Tulane football wiki page and count how many winning coaches they've since..ever. Whenever Fritz leaves/retires, it most likely won't be duplicated in our lifetimes. What Tulane did is the pure heart and soul definition of what an underdog is. It was fun to see!

Actually, it's the attitude of just about nearly all P5 schools. They need a reality check.

It's unfortunate the AAC posters make it so hard to get behind. Many are equally unbearable. Not all, but a lot of em

I’m definitely not a Tulane supporter but it’s nice seeing a G5 win on such a big stage.

I’m with you on a lot of this. Personally, any AAC school playing the University of Hell would have me rooting for a Demons win. Screw this “G5 brotherhood” garbage. I suppose I’m reasonably happy for Tulane, but it wouldn’t have broken my heart if they’d lost by 30.

I do find it hilarious how the AAC touts “P6, G4” all the while utilizing the G5 autobid. The proper thing for a P6 to do would’ve been to leave that pity bid for us plebes and get your own damned New Year’s bowl contract.

Grapes is just trolling…please don’t feed it. Everyone who follows football, in particular the G5, knows the American is a shell of its former self. Hell, the SBC was neck and neck with them this year and that’s with the Big12(3) included.

Yes, absolutely. In hindsight, had App State, Marshall, Georgia State or even ODU after their big P5 wins, the Sun Belt would have had several teams with similar profiles

Heck, the weekend after that huge OOC performance, Marshall was the highest ranked P5, then things fell apart after our QB transition started.

Using Massey's for this example, who wouldn't be entertained?

1.Tulane (11-2)
8.James Madison (8-3) unless ineligible, then Boise State (9-4)

4.Cincinnati (9-3)
5.UCF (9-4)

2.Troy (11-2)
7.Fresno State (9-4)

3.UTSA (11-2)
6.South Alabama (10-2)
