Bucs up at half time. Come Bucs let's keep and build the lead in the 2nd half!

5 charging fouls just in the first half. That could be a record.
[edit: technically, offensive fouls; 1 or 2 of them weren't charges.]

Solid win. ETSU disrupted the perimeter, but VMI couldn’t hit wide open as it was. Woulda been nice to hit more free throws, but this game was under control from start to finish. Nice to be reacquainting with the winning side of the record!

I know they're missing one (or two?) players, but this seemed to be the least capable VMI team I can remember.

Who were they missing? They had all their primary scorers. Good win, but hit your free throws it’s a 20 point win.

RE: Official Game Thread: @ VMI
I really liked the way they played today. Shot selection was good. I really only recall one not so good shot from the regulars. Ilic took two open 3s that missed; I've not seen enough of him to know if he should have taken those or not. Seymour, Struthers, and Haynes passed up "open" 3s that they should typically avoid taking.
I noticed this today - King shot better off a catch as opposed to off the dribble. Has this always been true with him and I just noticed it today? I think a lot of shooters are better off the catch since they can step into the shot and there's less movement to master.
Love Seymour's nose for the ball and the rebound. Every team can use one of those guys.
I like Haynes' aggressiveness in the post; I realize he outmatched the VMI bigs, but he tried to take advantage.
Good win today.

Anyone know why King didn't start? It may have been mentioned on the pre or post game show, but I missed it. It didn't hurt his minutes much, but I was curious.

I don't know the names. Part of the time I was listening to the VMI crew, and at least twice (that I heard) they said that. Oh, maybe they said "Nusbaum"(sp?) as one of them?

He actually took and missed 3 of them. Back early in the season, he took and made one. It may even have been his first basket as a Buc - just a faint memory, so not sure. He must have a green light on them. They didn't look bad; just didn't go in.

One of them he rushed just a tad, or so I thought. Ilic was clearly recruited to be a stretch 4, and I personally don’t mind him attempting 2 or 3 in game, as long as he starts hitting regularly. His movement and defense needs to improve quickly (Freshman problem) more importantly.

I am just so glad to see the Bucs taking care of business and winning the games they should be winning. Hope this is just the start.

The two I remember he was wide open. Sometimes being wide open is good offense or a missed assignment on defense. Sometimes being wide open is intentional and the player should pass on the shot. Sounds like he has the OK to shoot.

I think the Press account said that he did not start due to decision making during the end of the previous game.

Sitting a player out or taking away a start can help that player readjust and the team overall. King is our overall MVP, but I wonder if that title made him believe that everything had to flow through him and he forced things. Hopefully missing a start will have a positive impact.

Wow, my memory was correct. His first ETSU bucket was a 3, at TN Tech.

From what I have heard, Ilic is a very good three point shooter. If the defense leaves him open, I hope he keeps shooting.
