When I was covering MAC newcomers I indicated that Bass was one to watch. He and Miller are a very talented backcourt.

This does not bode well for Eastern...as it turns out, on certain nights U-M is a really bad team.

Michigan is clearly playing to the level of their opponent this year. Played close against marquee teams Kentucky, North Carolina, and Virginia. But also played close with each of their 3 MAC games.

I am happy with the win for CMU as it is a good win for the MAC. But you are right this bodes poorly for EMU. Discredits their good performance against UM while also indicating EMU may struggle in the MAC. But as you said before, our only hope is the conference play pans out much differently then the non-conference…

You may have been right Bass. But I will point out Miller has only played 4 games for CMU and yesterday was not one of them. So not looking forward to playing CMU with his return.

On other nights... They are damn good, but they have to come to play. Can't get caught looking ahead of an OOC game to a B1G game. UofM made Maryland look like a bad NAIA team.

This, course, is why we use statistical analysis and not simply look at the last game or two (hint: We NEED to be careful NOT to read too much into our 2022 FB season. Yes, we finished strong but... let's not get a sugar high. We need to replace a QB and 60% of our starting OL plus our all-American DE. I'm saying 2023 is a rebuild/reload year which may be bumpy. As someone wrote, in CFB, the different between 'good and great' is a very good/great QB. Getting to be like the NFL. Put Goff in a dome and watch him lead the Lions to a potent offense. In this respect, each MBB game carries a weight (say 3%). If we cherry pick a good game or a bad game, we are missing the bigger picture.

The way we played against UofM was great. We looked like a real good team. The next night... who knows.

I wouldn't put much stock in CMU beating Michigan as EMU led Michigan for most of the game. More concerned that EMU has not played as well since Michigan game. Let's see if EMU can start off conference play beating BG.

Yep. CMU was a 'trap game' for UofM. Our game was NOT. Our game was played more like a NCAA tourney game at a NBA arena, big media coverage, national TV, etc.
