XMAS WISH LIST FOR TRIBE BASKETBALL HEADING INTO CONFERENCE PLAY
Here is a start. Please feel free to be greedy and add more wishes.

(1) Get more creative on defense. Do a little bit of pressing and trapping to speed up play a bit.

(2) Scoring points in transition is a good thing.

(3) Stop channeling Coach Norman Dale. You do not have to always pass 4 times before you shoot.

(4) Find an offense that does not require 2 of your best players to both play with their backs to the basket when they are both in the game.

(5) Find more minutes for Jack Karasinski.

(6) See 5 above.

(7) Get Tyler Rice off of the milk carton.

(8) Get your best shooters good looks from 3 and then take the @#$% shot.

(9) To help with 8 above, find some meaningful minutes for Miguel Ayesa.

Great List! I would add:

(10) Purposeful movement without the ball based upon either (i) reads or (ii) choreography to create (#8) above and/or back door cuts. (Hint at least one assistant coach has experience in just such an offense and made 40% or more of his 3 point attempts in 3 out of 4 seasons.)

That's some wish list. None of it is going to happen except maybe the Karasinski part. Our coach is stubborn.

Tyler Rice has been the second-worst player in D1 based on BPM for someone at his minutes level: https://barttorvik.com/playerstat.php?li...mSelect=-1

He's 9/35 from the field with 12 turnovers in 107 minutes (led the conference in them last year). Can't speak to practice but in game has never consistently flashed the potential suggesting he'll be an impact player in the future.

Sure, he's young and has plenty of room to improve, but I'm expecting the rotation to tighten in conference play, not widen. The team can make its best effort to give young players lots of run or it can make its best effort to win, but it can't do both.

I like the wish list but share concerns about Rice.

My wish is that we call CofC's AD and ask who he would recommend for our next HC, because he's on a roll and has a similar coaching budget to what we have/should have by 2024.

I also wish to see more of Lowe and Ayesa in Conference play, I also think Williams may be able to contribute.

I've soured a bit on Mullins, coming out of ooc his shooting percentage is pretty awful. Not quite as bad as Case, who absolutely can not be on the floor except when in dire need to shut down a star guard.

Last wish is a shift to create some offense. Karasinski and Lowe are better all around players than Case, put them in. Dane can't justify not playing Ayesa at least in spurts when the kid is a guaranteed bucket.
