Seahawks opened at 12.5 point road favorites but I guess bettors thought it was too much.

Monmouth is about 5.5 boards less than opponents thus far and have had their struggles scoring and getting stops this year with several new guys.

Hope the Seahawks start strong and get a good win without injuries.

1-12 record. They've had a pretty tough schedule with a #18 SOS, but even the losses have been blowouts

This is possibly the worst team to ever play in the CAA. #358 Net rating out of 363 teams. There isn't a single strength in their game on offense or defense. Their best game was a loss to Syracuse where they lost 71-86. Only 216 of their 721 FG attempts are from three so it's not like they could get hot from three and win.

If you win the game by a large margin no one gives you credit for having done anything. If you win by a relatively narrow margin its "shows you are not as good as your record indicates". If you manage to lose the game it's as bad a loss as you can have, with terrible ramifications for teams looking for at-large post season tournament possibilities.

The Seahawks are , I think, 10-3 against the spread so far this year. So let's hope for a A) Win and B)another win against the spread, which I suspect gets (at least gambler's) as much positive attention as can be hoped for.

They turn the ball over A LOT, so there is a good chance that may happen. I'm sure Siddle is going to want to shake off the holidays and an empty gym against a bad opponent means we are going to have to generate some enthusiasm and energy. No better way to do that then to press from the start and get some turnovers and fast breaks.

This line intrigued me so I did some digging. Per KenPom, Monmouth has a -17.79 AdjEM rating. That means, against the average D1 opponent, they would be expected to lose by 17.79 points. Since 2002, that would make Monmouth the 4th worst CAA team.

2003 Towson -23.81
2012 Towson -22.63
2005 JMU -18.32
2023 Monmouth -17.79

For comparison, the worst UNCW team was the 09 team at -14.59
