Haynes had a so-so game. If he was up against Mack, I could see that. Mack's a heck of a player.
Jancek had a performance needed from your backup center. Contributed a little in most phases in 15 minutes.
Taylor (as well as Seymour, who tag-teamed) had his hands full with Messiah Jones, who was a bigger problem than Mack, actually, altho Mack was his typical self. I'd say Mack only slightly outplayed Haynes (+Jancek), but Jones was too much for anybody, when they could get him the ball.
I believe I heard Oliver say that Jancek was still having trouble with his ankle, which is limiting his minutes.
Oliver really wasn't happy with how the team handled the closing minutes, discussing how he saw fear and panic (again/still). He's *bound* to have been going thru a severe deja vu there towards the end.
We were truly lucky to win, mostly because the Woofers were 1/19 from deep in the first half. Yet were still ahead. That's a crazy, crazy stat. And they weren't taking bad shots, either; just cold. Because of all the outside shots they were taking, there were a lot of long rebounds, evidenced by King, Tippler, Smith, and Strothers collecting 19 among themselves. So to say we rebounded better, while true, is significantly due to them taking so many long shots, and our guards truly being sharp and prescient to gather a lot of those caroms.
The real 'story' of the game, momentum-wise, was two strong runs. One to end the first half and start the second, and the segment maybe 2/3 of the way thru the second half, when the Bucs truly looked like the Bucs of old, with a terrific few sequences of stops and impressive offensive performances. And that one was quick. It hit them with a flurry that set them back on their heels - and credit to them to come back to almost steal it. We probably outscored them at least 15, if not more, just in those two runs.
Another crazy stat is that they (Woffers) only had 4 TOs the WHOLE GAME. And yet lost. Wowser.
16 Buc assists - including 5 from our posts - helped a lot.
Woofers shot 5 more FTs then ETSU even took, largely because of Mack and Jones inside.
There were some *truly* horrendous calls/no calls. They probably evened out, but wow - some of them were just jaw-dropping.
