2024 recruiting
Ok Jason Candle go hard after these young men. Mark Nave would look good in Midnight Blue and Gold. Come to think of it, so would Jasen Kelly

Nave is already offered isn't he? Winning state champ puts focus on and there's a certain coach in Kentucky waits for others to do his talent eval then swoops in with offers. There's other players, other teams. Local coaches would know. I imagine that's how we got our kick returner.

Yes they have both been offered. But we need to hit this class hard.
So far the 2023 class has the lowest rating Toledo has had in years

2023 is rated low for the fact that it is such a small class - ( 14 HS recruits and 2 transfers)…

But not even in the top 100!!! That’s unbelievable. Unacceptable!!!

We are not the number one in the MAC, which is going to make NIU fans really sad! I think the wheels have fallen off at NIU. 12 have transferred out and they gave scholarships to 8 walk ons. That is an incredibly high number in both regards!

NIU, once a top contender in the MAC west, maybe heading downward. Will have to see if they can bring in some quality transfers.

I thought winning the MAC CHAMPIONSHIP and Boca bowl games would give us a step up in the recruiting class. I know it will get better in February

Push comes to shove, I think what matters was filling needs. If the coaches feel they got what they needed, the results should show. When MAC teams start getting 4-5 star ranked players and Toledo isn't, that would be a concern.

CMUs #1 ranked class hits hard on the lines, which I think it a winning formula. I count 7 OL, 3 TE, 3 DL last year. 5 OL this year.
We have 3OL, 2 DE, and only one recruit from SE Michigan, which I would consider a concern. But in this portal age, who knows what other plans the coaches have to fill needs.

Winning championships and bowls always pays off more in the next recruiting class as the current was already pretty much sealed up. Relationships are built with players in their sophomore and junior years. The only option once the 2023 early signing was done is to try and get a couple players that are waiting for bigger schools to offer and may not get those offers, or signing portal transfers to fill immediate needs. Since the portal was started Ohio for example went from have 110-130 D1 scholarships signed per class to around 80-85. Look at schools like MSU, Purdue, Iowa this year and even Michigan this year which are signing fewer kids per class and taking 5-10 portal kids per class. Michigan will probably end up signing 5-8 portal transfers this year.

One of the reasons schools like Campbell have done well in recruiting.

Agree I like that we had a lot of lineman percentage wise in this class. Also our class is too small to get the number one ranking the way they do class rankings.
