You are either good enough at this level or you aren't. If he was a 4 star recruit from Chicago few would care nearly as much one way or t'other after what we've all watched.

Yeah, people like you keep clinging to the "it's because he's from Cincinnati" thing because that gives you an easy out to justify banging on people and ignoring facts.

The fact is that in his first start of the year he had us in position to win the game and the defense blew it. Then he made the play to at least keep us in the game and Tyler Scott dropped a pass that hit him right square in the chest.

But you know, he's a Cincinnati kid so none of that matters.

All I can go off of is what I have seen and read about him. His mechanics are terrible, accuracy terrible, long ball, short ball terrible. Good runner. Athletic. Yay?

Never was there such an argument for 4 star Cincy QB commit Bennie Coney who ended finishing up his career at Eastern Kentucky.

I've said more than a few times that guy is the unluckily man in America. Born 8 years too soon...he would've been a millionaire with NIL in Cincinnati lol.

Wait what?

Look in the mirror. You've had googly eyes for him since game one and have oddly dug in like a tick deeper every game since then.

Just take the L.

He's just not a good enough AAC QB. B12? Lol Fagetabowtit.

Those aren’t the facts. The facts are he was awful in both games. His inaccuracy cost the team on multiple drives. To say “he had us in position to win” is demonstrably untrue. We were in a position to win despite him, not because of him. His numbers don’t lie, and they are terrible.

I'm starting to think the 2-3 guys still defending Prater's play are somehow related to him. Either that or they are Wyoming HS alumni.

I'd say the defense had us in a position to win the Tulane game. Through 3-1/2 quarters they held tulane to their lowest point total of the season, and even after the 4Q TD held them to their second lowest score. Defense followed by the RB's gaining 150 yds, a very solid outing for that position.

Fick/Gino recruited him off potential and thus far he hasn't lived up to it

I like Evan, and I hope everything works out for him. I do wonder if Lichtenberg would have been QB2, if it weren't for Evan's star rating.

People underrate the gameplan from the offensive coaching staff. They really used their alignments to create space for the running game. It was the kind of thing that probably wouldn't have worked long term as teams scouted them. But for one game, they manufactured offense against a good defense, despite basically no threat to throw the ball.

That is just demonstrably senseless.

Do you say we won in spite of Bryant whenever he passed five yards to Scott or Tucker and they ran the remaining 75 yards????

PS - Also... are you the guy who said that missed FT's don't affect the outcome of a game a couple of seasons ago???

That’s a completely different scenario. If a QB recognizes where an open WR is and hits him, and that WR proceeds to make a play, that’s an excellent play by both WR and QB. When a QB goes 10 for 26 for 102 and a pick, he played terribly and hurt his team. Then he followed up by going 7 for 15 for 83 yards and a TD. Those are horrific numbers in modern football. The facts are what they are: Prater has played badly.

But it was clear early on that UC absolutely couldn't run the ball against Indiana. And then the second half more than affirmed that opinion as UC tried to blow that big lead with an unimaginative, unproductive ground game.

Regarding Bryant, he could be a very capable QB next season if a rushing game could be established to complement his passing.
[/quote]

UC couldn't run the ball on anyone. The offensive line play was shameful. It was shocking to go from Jerome Ford to 1.1 yards per rush. It didn't matter which RB was carrying the ball or who the opponent happened to be.

BB is a drop back passer. That is not a sin. It is a QB type.

When the RB threat is so pitiful that you call on your drop back passer QB to run enough to keep the LB's honest, one of two things will occur. 1. Your drop back passer QB will eventually get killed. 2 Your drop back passer QB will fumble, while getting killed.

BB would have had a much better year if he had simply done as Ridder did all of last year. Take the snap, do one progression past the primary receiver and then launch the ball into the stands IMMEDIATELY if the second guy wasn't open.

Take the incompletion and live to see another down.

It doesn't matter because he won't take another snap on the field for the Cincinnati Bearcats. He's buried on the depth chart now and CSS didn't recruit him. Transfer portal is the best scenario for him moving forward.

Regardless of who the backup to Ben Bryant was, Fickell and his staff did a poor job of identifying and successfully recruiting and/or preparing a quality backup QB for this season.
Maybe Prater was that QB. But if so, he was woefully unprepared to take over.

It's almost as if the coaching staff knew this was the last rodeo...hmm...........

Bolded, and to that point, I channel surfed over to the replay earlier this morning of Wisconsin's bowl game just in time to see Fickell prowling the sidelines. The only change was a Wisconsin "W" on his Under Armour sleeveless pullover instead of the "C-Paw" we grew accustomed to.

My only point is, Fickell did a fine job here but I think he was checked out long before the final game. And it's hard to hide that from a coaching staff and players. Minor point, but I also wonder if Under Armour played any role in his move, knowing that UC was committed to moving on to another team brand?

I thought that when he promoted a GA and SA from within and made a series of lazy hires last January. Was like staff didn't matter anymore.

I am so damn tired of talking about the ex-girlfriend. Or is it the ex-boyfriend in this case?

Whatever.

I'm hoping that we can retire the "T.E.A.M." right along with "Represent the 'C'," "Hold the Rope!" and "Go to hell, get a job!"

Not the coach, just the saying.
