Grading Salter
All season long, HC Freeze complimented Salter as an athletic QB with potential, but unable to read defenses and prone to mistakes. Mistakes such as running out of bounds when harassed rather than throwing an incompletion. His mistakes and inability to reduce them lends one to think he has the skills, as he has shown at times, but lacks the ability to grasp the action. He was very lucky in the BR bowl not to have 2 interceptions. And his inability to feel pressure from the blind side caused another fumble. His running ability is strong. His ability to be a consistent passer and read defenses is mediocre.

With a one-game HC, 9+ players in the transfer portal, a one-game coach calling the plays, this was a tall hurdle for LU to overcome to win the bowl game. As strong as the LU defense played in the first half, they seemed to tire in the second as Toledo had multiple extended drives of 6+ minutes that resulted in scores. Half time adjustments by Toledo, and not by LU, gave the advantage to the Rockets.

One bright spot was the play of Johnson who improved his desirability and appeal for the NFL. Congrats to him. He played great.

And one can hope Chadwell, as a recognized offensive coach, can bring stability and improved QB play and to a stagnant, limited offense.

I'd give Salter a B- for this game.

C- for awareness, A for ability, with the awareness holding more weight because of how it affect his execution.

I look forward to seeing Chadwell's handiwork with a fine QB room that just needs more time & better focused attention from their coach, unlike *ahem* a certain distracted coach.
