Question Former TXST and stAte QB, Layne Hatcher transfers to Ball State
Foe the Red Wolve fans that may be interested. Former state QB, who also started at TXST this past season, has moved on to Ball State for his final year of eligibility.

Layne's tenure at TXST this past season was marred by several controversies that led some of our aluminum-hatted fans to come up with some conspiracy theories.

9ne of the things was that Hatcher, not only started, but took every single snap at QB this season. Whether winning or losing badly, Coach Spavital never gave a single snap of playing time to either of or two back ups. Not a single snap.

This, along with the fact that, Layne's parents bought 40+ season tickets, at the exclusive championship level at $1700 each with three year commitment, led some people to question if there was some shenanigans going on. I have to admit that it was all rather suspicious.
All water under a bridge at this stage of the game as far as I'm concerned but we're wondering if Ball State is going to have a new weight room in the next year or two.

I wonder which he will run out of first teams to transfer to or years to play. Alumni club fees are gonna kill him. Good thing his dad is rich.

If it makes you feel any better, there were a lot of accusations when he was here that dad was buying his starting spot. Hell, there's been commentary that Alabama let him come in as a preferred walk-on because of people he knew.
