Thought I heard Sandos near the end of the post-game show that WCYB was going to carry the game. Don't rely on that as a certainty, tho.

Drew Pember ate us alive last year dropping 27 points. He likes showing up Oliver
He had 40 against UCF earlier this year.

Jay did say that WCYB would carry the game.

Picking up defeat from the clutches of victory. Great coaching at end of games.

Anything goes the Bucs way in the final 45 seconds and the Bucs win. What a terrible stretch this has been.

The Oliver curse continues. Must be allergic to winning, because it looked like he gave the whole team benadryl before the 2nd half. Can’t fall asleep at the wheel half the race and expect to take the win.

Loss of focus. Lack of rebounding in final 30 seconds and a well earned loss as usual.

Foul at the end because you’re afraid of a tie, extend the game and find a new way to lose. Unreal. Commendable effort to claw back in to the game but the typical end of game disorganization and poor game management was too much.

RE: Official Game Thread: UNC Asheville
I’m starting to check out emotionally on this coach, won’t be long before I do on the team, too. Really hate feeling that way. My 10 yo said he doesn’t want to go to any more games for a while. Sad. Up next…LSU road game. YIKES.
P.S. After that, the Bucs limp (crawl?) into conference play against Wofford, who went to the wire against LSU in a close loss, 75-78. Then, VMI, which *may* by that time be the first D1 win in over a month *except* that’s also a road game so don’t hold your breath….

10 wins is looking like a reach at this point.

What you said is total bull****. The team fought so hard to get back. The last second shot was lucky, contested, but he hit it. It’s not a well earned loss. What an idiotic observation.

It was a frustration observation.

In that case, I completely understand. I’m with you. And I’m sorry I said that. This one was really, really difficult.
As bad as it was and as hard as it was to lose it, I do think we are getting better, and Justice Smith is going to be a special player…. I think.

I am with you totally. I have been supporting my Bucs for over 50 years now. I am with you and all the Bucs fans. It just hurt greatly to lose tonight like that. I will be back supporting the team next game. Tonight I think we are all just venting.

RE: Official Game Thread: UNC Asheville
I'll tell you all what I told my buddy leaving the game - if we don't just give away at least 6 possessions, we likely don't have to worry about a contested 26 foot shot losing the game for us. And that was no circus shot; I watched Pember in warm-ups and he took a couple during the game. He is a decent 3 point shooter; he'll win Asheville a game or two during conference play.
I saw some fire in the Bucs I hadn't seen the previous 3 games I've watched; it didn't show up till the last 10 minutes, but it did show up. If that fire carries into the rest of the season, we'll be much happier on this board.
I did like the offensive approach this game. Seemed like a concerted effort to pound the ball inside; Haynes, Seymour, Jancek missed maybe 6 or so shots inside they need to make, but I like those shots better. They typically are higher percentage shots and give fouling opportunities. I think free throw shooting will be a strength with this team, so getting into the double bonus could swing a game or two in conference play ETSU's way.
I like that Seymour really went after the ball this game. The 50/50 ball discrepancy went from 90/10 in the Queens game to maybe 60/40 - still not where I'd like to be, but an improvement. Tipler went after a couple balls hard - I like it.
Anyone know what happened to Taylor? Don't recall Jay asking Coach about it in the post game show, but I don't know if Taylor even played the 2nd half.
