Jose's stock is on the rise. Possibly a 3-5 round pick. Critics will point out that he's only 6'1" or so but his speed is eye-popping.
Be nice to see the Lions take him.

Yeah, think i saw 6017 which i assume is 6 feet, 1 and 7/8s inches.
Boom or bust in the NFL? Might dodge some 350 lbs OT on a pass rush and then get pancaked on a running play???

Situational pass rushers are everywhere. Did James Houston look out of place to you in the second half of the season for the Lions? Ramirez is listed a bit bigger than Houston currently is too. I think he’s less “boom or bust” than you’ve been implying in this thread.

Good point about being a situational pass rusher. I don't see him as an every down DE in a 4 - 3.
That said, if I were an opponent and it was 3rd and 7, I just might run at him even though 7 yards is a lot for a 3rd down run, esp. if 4th down isn't out of the question (say inside the opponents 45 yard line).

He’s listed at 250 pounds and hasn’t even been drafted yet. That’s about 10 pounds heavier than James Houston’s current weight. Ramirez is not that small, and hasn’t had an NFL strength and conditioning routine yet. Honestly, I don’t know how much more he’d need to bulk up. Don’t want to rob him of his quickness.

Are we debating what his position will be? 4 - 3 or 3 - 4 defense?
At 6' 2" is a DE?

Watch the Super Bowl next week and tell me how tall Brandon Graham is.

Fair enough. According to this NFL edge ranking, a lot of top prospects around 6' 3" or 6' 4" - not much taller than Jose.
I got into the group think that 6' 2" is too short.

It’s great Coach Creighton went to the game to support Jose Ramirez! With the break thru season, I now can see an even greater upward trajectory for the football program!

He drives me nuts on game day, but it's clear he knows how to build a program. Going to that game is definitely not in the job requirements. Good signal to the scouts that the head coach believes in you, and a good signal to the players/recruits that coach will support you even when he's not being paid to do so

Well said, Ypsi. Jose seems like the ultimate team guy and he is relentless. I'm curious to see how he tests at the combine. I've got him pegged as a late 4th rounder but an impressive combine could shoot him up

RE: Jose Ramirez
Ramirez will make his start as a DPR in the NFL. If he can stand up against NFL OTs against the run then he might get a few more snaps. That being said, teams have shown that you need to have a solid rotation of pass rushers in order to keep his fresh.
He's probably best suited in a wide-9 at this point in order to get more runway for his speed rush. Get him with a good DL coach to help refine his pass rush technique & he could be an incredibly solid edge rusher.
Kocurek in San Francisco, Schwartz in Cleveland, or Ryans in Houston could help him out immensely.
