OT Discussion: Sun Belt NCAA Football Program Star Ratings
Ok everyone, I took a weighted average approach using the latest data provided by US News academic and research rankings, and historic athletic performance data, with the 2022 NCAA Football star ratings below...none of this is to be taken seriously, just some more fun offseason discussion.

Academic data weighed US News rankings, Research status, enrollment and graduation rates.

Athletic data weighed recent performance, historic conference championship performance, bowl history.

App State with the lowest academic rating is freaking hilarious.

Yeah, y'all got penalized pretty heavily for not being either an R1 or R2 institution, as well as ranking #12 out of 14 in the latest US News stuff...

LOL it off, its all super cereal stuff here.

Never understood why people circle jerk themselves to sleep about academia.

Nope, this is more of a nostalgia trip for those like me who played a lot of NCAA Football on Playstation/Xbox...

Your program had literal star ratings like these to recruit prospective students...

I can't not see this list, and immediately remember the NCAA 2006 soundrack...

The Clash "Train in Vein (Stand by Me)"
Pixies "Debaser"

and others...

This is hilarious, that the only conversation birthed out of these rankings is/was the fact people don't like their rankings.

I think they came out to be highly accurate.

Typically in the game, every program essentially starts with a *** default, that is a baseline.

Most P5 programs are **** or higher, the bottom feeding P5's are ***

Schools like Stanford and Rice are ****** academics. Schools like Alabama and Clemson are ****** athletics.

This is all on a six star scale.

You think Marshall provides a better undergraduate program than App State, nope.

OMFG, how many different ways are you going to try to milk an R1 or R2 classification into a post pimping Marshall academics? There are LOTS of non-Research classified schools that are way better and way harder to get into than Marshall, including App St. Let it go.

Guys, holy crap, you take this way too serious. This is a combination of all of the factors not just one. Additionally, it's all in fun.

Unfortunately App State scored low on both the non-research factor and the US News ranking. It was not simply one specific determining factor. Says nothing about the quality of student.

As far as the JMU fan, I'm a little confused as to why you think this is a Marshall post. The average I took factored in acceptance and graduation rate, I literally threw every metric into a spreadsheet and pulled a cumulative sum total. It was like 10 minutes of work for a fun post topic, and y'all have drained the life out of it.

I think South Alabama should have 4 stars for athletics. They’ve won the most Bubas Cup all sports trophies and are in contention for it every year. While football is newer and we are finding our way, we’ve been solid at most other sports. I mean baseball has been to 28 regionals. That alone should put us as 4 stars.

2Buck, Rileylives wasn't really taking any of this seriously. If you really want to know where you stand in academics, use the ARWU Shanghai ratings. Now those are the real deal, IMO

Kinda surprised to see JMU only three stars in athletics. We're generally good in just about everything. Except baseball 03-banghead

Consider who started the post.

Of course he’s going to downgrade jmu any chance he gets

The "athletics" is strictly football. Appreciate the banter, again it's all in fun. If you played NCAA Football, you know what these mean.

There's no deeper meaning here.

What do you mean? We are in contention for the Bubas Cup every year (we lost by like a point last year) and we’ve been to to NCAA Tournament 3 times since 2016 (2020 season/Tournament canceled due to COVID).

Fixed so there's no more confusion. I think in the game it was simply athletics, but it is a football game so you know what's up.

Can see how people get confused.
