Yeah, and it continued after the game. Haynes and one(?) of the Jax players got into it a bit on the sidelines during the handshake line, and some ETSU staff pushed Haynes forcefully away. Couldn't tell which Jax player(s) it was.

This game reminded me a lot of the SWL (or UL-L for modernists) (who is now 6-1) game. Two good teams, but ETSU is better, and more practiced, at figuring out a pathway to a loss. Maybe best officiating in quite some time.
As someone posted after the Elon(?) game, there's a lot to like about this team. The upside is higher than last year's team, for sure.
Good to see *both* Strothers and Smith respond to my 'challenge'/request. 03-thumbsup

Lapses will happen often in an inexperenced team

I'm thinking they had 3 shot clock violations (check me on that - I might be imagining); I really think that 30 seconds is enough time for an average offense to get a decent shot and that shot clock violations should be rare.

The shot clock violations are ridiculous. Sure, at least once a game the opposing D will cause that; but three times is absurd. What's curious, tho, is that until yesterday, the guards had been letting the ball roll almost up to half-court before picking it up to start the clock. Not all the time, of course, but when unguarded, which was most of the time. At first, I thought that was just King doing it on his own, but then Tipler did it, too, in the previous game. So it must have been something Oliver wanted. So then yesterday, they *didn't* do it, and got 3 delays called. Last year, Sloan used to drive me crazy how he'd (seemingly) lollygag around at the top of the key for far too long before starting running a play - but he almost always got a good result when he finally got rolling.

I think it's likely an aberration, because most of the time, there is good movement and good spacing. But because Jax St. was doing a pretty good job of denying Haynes the ball, the inside-out action was limited. No doubt other teams will act similarly. Further, having Tipler in there for spells just creates more and varied options. I just don't think *he's* gonna have many shot-clock violations when he's running point.

Correctly observed Dr. Poster

How bad are we? Jacksonville State lost to Utah by 41 points yesterday (12/8).

It is hard to say right now. We have lost to several mediocre teams so far. Our hope is that they come together and stop the turnovers and start making the open shots they are missing now.

Good catch. Not looking good, is it? Don't know much about Utah. Since I don't hear much about teams in the west, they may be a good team without much of a national profile, but a 41 point loss might say more about Jacksonville St and ETSU than I care to know.
