Finally! A NIU mens basketball team making double digit 3’s. Huskies have made 14 so far. It leads also to many assists and easy baskets. Great job Huskies!

90-70 NIU win.

Team shot well. Gotta clean up the unforced turnovers.

Watch Crump for a while to alleve your frustration from Nutter.
Nutter had 16 points.

RE: MBB @ EIU
20 point win with 5 guys in double digits on the road is a good win no matter what but, man...I just didn't get the feeling we played very well even though most of the numbers say we did.

On one hand, that says a lot about EIU and where they are but I'm also telling myself that it says a lot about NIU and where this group can go and develop.

I'd like to see a better rebound differential in a game like this but we're going to struggle to out rebound most teams until we have an inside presence (which, in all honestly, isn't going to fully transpire this season). And I'd like to see the turnover margin/number be improved upon. Maybe it's a little in how the play and you're just going to have turnovers. It's quite possible it's something we (I) have to accept. The forced TOs is still good and that is definitely a positive.

Also, free throws. We shot 69.2%, which isn't great. The raw stats show us shooting 18 of 26. But let's look a little closer. Anthony Crump shot 1 of 5 from the stripe. Remove him and we shot 17 of 21, which is 81%. He is the issue there. Plain and simple. He also takes a lot of FTs and tonight he was 2nd on the team in FT attempts.

You'd think at some point, figuring out how to shoot a FT would be doable for a guy who is athletic and plays basketball but darned if it appears this is just something that will never be corrected. It's actually quite remarkable actually.

Last year Crump didn't bother me as much and while my disdain for him has subsided, I'm just over him. He's a liability with the ball. He does grab a decent amount of rebounds but you'd have to figure almost anyone with any size would grab a few as well.

He seems like a decent enough fellow though so I'm okay with just accepting him for what he is.

Anyway, I was really happy to see Niederhäuser get some minutes tonight. He's obviously going to be limited in his minutes for a while but he still scored 7 points in just 11 minutes. He's a little thicker than I anticipated but that also makes him more of a post/inside player. He also should get stronger. He's also a little slower than I thought he'd be but...being bigger kind of explains him being slower. He's not the same kid I saw on video but most of that video was pretty old as is and he's filled out a lot since most of that video was posted.

That's about it for now. Oh yeah, I'll take 56% 3PT on 18 of 26 shooting going forward please.

All kidding aside, we do have some guys who can shoot it from the outside and when they're all clicking, this will be a tough team to outscore.

Niederhauser looks out of shape heavy. If the Huskies didn’t shoot great from 3 the game probably would’ve been close. Making 3’s will cover up for turnovers and not being a dominant rebounding team.

Huskies made one more basket than EIU but made a ton more 3’s and twice as many free throws than EIU. Huskies had about 5 to many turnovers but usually won’t matter when you make 14 threes to your opponents 5

It is astonishing how shooting better than your opponent helps you out score them.

RE: MBB @ EIU
Monty? Nope! I told Monty several times if you want to be one of the top teams in the MAC he had better get better 3pt shooters! I believe scoring and in particular 3pt scoring is more important at the MAC level than defense is. Monty disagreed with that. Yes I knew Monty very well and gave him **** constantly about not winning
