I think #1 hasn’t been agreed to. Since the contract is part of current deal I suspect it includes the champs of the current P5 + next best

It would be great news for the AAC if the AAC champ were to have an AQ (automatic) bid, but it doesn't.

Who knows which of the G5 conference champs will get the G5's playoff spot?

True, Tulane could be the champ of the AAC and the NY6 rep this year, but after UC, UCF, and UH depart, the AAC has no guarantee of being the top G5 conference year in and year out.

The Sun Belt has several schools with strong football programs. Most years, so does the MWC. Seems likely that those two conferences will be earning their fair share of CFP playoff bids.

#1 has been agreed to. The rules change when going to 12.

This is good news for the AAC as we will be given the 6th slot. I suspect the G4 would be given the "12" spot so the Alabama's can have an extra donut after their bye week. So good news for the G4 also.

THIS IS HUGE

I expect there to emerge a group of G5 schools who rise to the top of the G5 with these CFP appearances bolstering there programs in ways never seen before. I believe the first few tickets in the first years of this format will be critical to get for G5 schools.

Once the more "elite" group of G5 schools become noticable, they will be more targeted by recruits because of the new system allowing this type of path. It will be such a massive advantage over even P5 schools. One never acheable until now.

If you're a player what would you rather do?

Go to a school such as Iowa State, Syracuse, Illinois etc. knowing the odds of making the playoffs with those schools.. or decide to pick a G5 school who you've seen in the CFP and is viewed as conference favorites to win such as Boise State, Memphis, ECU etc.

I'm not mad about being left out of the Big 12 now lol.

AAC this is your moment

Continue the choke hold we've had on having the top G5 team, start sending our Champion to the Playoffs consecutively (like we would have been doing all along) and our conference will become incredible.

If the Champion of our conference can advance to the College Football Playoffs that changes everything.
