Kyle Rowland wrote in the Blade that Cochran was out with a "sprained toe".

I hope they keep him out until it is fully healed. Don't want this to become a nagging injury all year long.

Lorentsson and Farmer both had a great first half, just pounding the boards and playing fast and physical. AJ didn't have his best game but he brought energy and we established a lead with his second rotation in the game.

RayJ is really good. He forced shots for most of the first half but settled into his game and took over. best player on the floor, like most nights. shumate was excellent. smooth and prolific in the mid range. crisp with his ballhandling. a regular pest around the rim on defense altering shots even if he didn't get credited with a bunch of blocks. milner couldn't get a roll all first half but stayed composed and within himself coming through with a solid second half and a 0 turnover game. maddox was efficient and competitive. set a great tone with his combination of aggressive yet controlled play.

on TV looked like a small crowd but with pretty good student turnout. richmond is down a little this year, but still a good team. george mason is big but with the way Lorentsson is playing I am feeling better about the frontcourt.

Richmonds three losses were by small points to very established programs, Charleston, Syracuse, Wichita St. Charleston 7-1, the other two struggling but you KNOW those teams have solid players and solid coaching.

Time will tell as always. I'm sticking with my first post on this page. Keep developing that bench even if it costs an OOC game. In this case, it didn't. The goal is the MACC and that takes fresher bodies than the other guy.

I think it is clear that TK is trying to make this bench a factor. 9 guys are getting important rotations and all the bench players are showing improvement. Lorentsson's growth is impressive. TK does not play guys who are not in the top 9 unless there are injuries. I think the only criticism might be if he doesn't find a few minutes here and there for Wilson to get some confidence in case of future injuries.

Both guard positions seem pretty well covered. Top nine or not, everyone 6'5" and bigger needs minutes. Seeded 14-16, first round games are going to be size mis-matches probably against recently deep teams. I'd get Simmons and or Jabobi back into the rotation while we still have these experienced upper classmen, then deal with red-shirts next year.

Jacobi and Simmons are redshirting because they are not as good as Edu and Lorentsson. Not sure how much having them dressed would help us, especially if it cuts into minutes for AJ and the Swede who are improving with their current bench roles. Plus, I doubt that the redshirts would prefer to lose a year of college eligibility just so they could play 2 or 3 minutes here and there and maybe fill in for a couple minutes in a tournament game on the chance that we 1) get there, and 2) have major foul trouble. Both guys are really invested in the program and unlikely to transfer out. I like the idea of 3 more years of Jacobi as a bench energy guy, especially since his commitment to conditioning and strength work is so clear. Looks like the only likely transfer is Wilson and that would be our final free roster spot for a transfer or frosh frontcourt player (we are recruiting Eemeli Yalaho, a Finnish solid 6-8 forward prepping in Ohio who has some good mid majors and at least one P6 offer).
I have no issue with Simmons and Kooper redshirting. We loose JT and Milner next year. That will be a lot of minutes we lose. They say Simmins is the real deal. And Kooper needs another year of D1 weight room.
