What players have entered entered the portal?

John Paddock from BSU has entered so it’s my guess that he was told he wasn’t starting next year.

RE: Portal
At least Crooms & Seilig from WMU.
Bronco board in full panic right now.

I'll take Gabbert at Western. Especially if our 2 current QB's leave.

edit: sorry, not Seilig, Fiske

RE: Portal
NIU's terrible defense is getting worse and so far has lost six starters. We graduate two starting DEs and one starting LB. We have two starting CBs who entered the portal and one starting LB who is retiring from football one year early.

On offensive end, our best OL announced he is transferring. So that's at least three starters transferring so far. Plus some backups who barely played.

RE: Portal
The Kent RB was a redshirt freshman who probably realized his playing time would be limited with all of KSU’s RB’s coming back next year. Or maybe he was just tired of Hungry Howie’s.

These kids think the grass is greener elsewhere, which is how we end up with so many in the portal and when the game of musical chairs has the music stop many are left without a seat.

Sadly, I think you're right.

I would rely more on the portal then. There’s no sense in trying to develop freshman out of high school if they’re just gonna leave when they get good. Take ex P5 guys that are already used to Division 1 football. Eastern & Central have been relying on transfer senior players for a while now & it seems to work good for them.

May've been one of Lester's downfalls. We weren't able to get any really good transfers this past year.

It s/ work both ways. You lose players but you get players.

Big loss for WMU. Sure he goes P5 to get a paid NIL deal.

It shouldn't be unexpected. You generally see a higher volume of players transfer out when the coaches that recruited them and they built a relationship with get fired.

NIU's top RB transfers in back-to-back seasons. Ducker last year and now Waylee. Waylee was one of the few players we had with speed and ability to break big plays.

Reality these players showed they are good FBS level players and now ca upgrade to bigger programs. MAC is like AA baseball. They develop young players out of high school, but bigger programs offer more to star players.

RE: Portal
With 120 per team, and now an easier transfer process, a lot of P5 recruits should be looking at G5 programs for playing time opportunities. Keeping a nice balance between programs and levels. I don’t get how Alabama gets so many top recruits every year. ‘Hey, I was a 4/5 star in HS, but went to AL for 4 years as a third string guard. Never saw the field. It was awesome’.
