The trick is to harness all that potential into learning to be a QB and refining his throwing. If he taps into all that he can be he will be a scary good QB. Ditto that for McCoy.

They did pick up Ike as a JUCO transfer: https://www.mtsacathletics.com/sports/fb...gwuiiic731
It will be interesting to see what he brings to the table. As far as McCoy, any time I ask Alex about him, his first response is, "Cam'Ron is a freaky athlete!"

Coming out of Cincy Cam had a hell of an arm. He could sling the rock farther than anyone there. The issue they had with his arm wasn't power and strength, it was accuracy. I always will go back to what my buddy at Cincy told me, "Cam has a cannon for an arm, expect it was a revolutionary war cannon. You know the ball will can be on target but it probably won't be." Cincy didn't want to put time and effort into getting him to be a starter.

We on the other hand thought he could be molded into a starter and we have. He no longer has a revolutionary war arm cannon, he now has a tomahawk missile.

He can do it all. He can run like the wind and pass where ever the ball is needed to go. I think he is beyond a viable QB and should 100% get some starting reps.

Good thing about a QB with a strong arm (albeit inaccurate) who is an excellent athlete and can run. He can always run the RPO and throw the ball 10 - 20 yards down field.

That isn't bad.
He has fixed his accuracy problems
The guy put in work with Coach Mike and he 100% gotten his aim fixed
He is ready to start
Just needs the chance

What I like about RPO QBs:

A regular QB plays 10 vs. 11. His 10 teammates go up against 11 defenders.

An RPO QB plays 11 vs. 11. When he is running with the ball it is 11 vs. 11.

Loved his potential at MSU. Will love it better in an EMU uniform. With Knue Lassiter and him we have a dominant MAC WR group. Lockett Jr was a soph at MSU last year and is 6'0 180.

Creighton broke the ceiling last season. EMU with 9 wins is no longer a perennial conference doormat that tops out and celebrates .500 seasons.

Edified, this is great to hear. I'm hoping the reason we haven't brought in a nadaid grad transfer QB is because ehopefully the coaches see that he can play. Do you think he could take away the starting spot from Austin?

RE: 2022 Transfer Portal / Post Dec. Signing Day
Whoa, Lockett is a nice addition! He was one of Mel Tucker's first big recruits, high three star on 247 and four star on rivals, had offers from MSU, Cincinnati, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, and Rutgers. Looks like Miami-OH also offered him once he hit the portal this year. He has three years left to play.

Losing two of the "big three" (even though Lassiter was every bit as good as those guys) it'll be huge to find that third guy to go with Knue and Lassiter, hopefully Lockett can be that guy.

I think the easy (or probably lazy) comparison is to our other MSU transfers, Douglas and Kline. Obviously they are all different positions, but they were all pretty big recruits (especially by EMU standards), got to MSU and didn't play a whole lot, and then transferred to EMU with multiple years left. Douglas probably has the inside track to start this year, but has had a hard time finding a starting spot outside of filling in for some injured players his first few seasons here. Kline meanwhile came right in and was one of the best players on our defense and will be one of the keys again next year. I guess that is to say, just because a guy was a big recruit in high school and is coming from a power-5 school, it doesn't always mean they come right in and light the world on fire. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out for Lockett.

This whole class as really come together about as well as we could hope for in my opinion, especially if we add Jefferson Adam! The one curious thing is the linebacker position. I think we are all very confident with Joe and Chase back this year, but they will both be seniors and we don't have much after them. We only brought in Eliuk this year, and didn't bring anyone last year (other than Joe and Chase). May have to hit the portal hard next year for help at that spot...it worked last year!

No, he had left the team in early October (the MSU/UM game was in late October) and then announced he was entering the portal in early November.

Darius Boone has entered the transfer portal. Was probably going to be hard for him to get many touches this year, so hopefully he is able to find a good spot.

I’m happy for him. Great team guy. Hope he transfers somewhere like Tulsa and tears it up.

Yeah we need a DE, also one more TE. May have to wait until we hire a LB coach to get a LB and my guess it will be a late addition. With Boone leaving do we need another RB? Agree this class has come together very nicely. For the second year in a row we play the portal cards very well.

Sounds like we are in pretty good shape to add Adam at the DE spot.

Some may disagree, but I like where we are at TE! I think Paaske showed last year he can be a threat in the passing game, and I like Getzinger as a blocker and short yardage guy. Reese is the big X factor there, he could be a huge boost to the offense if he lives up to some of his billing. I suppose maybe adding a JUCO for some depth couldn't hurt.

I think the RB room is just fine as well. Obviously Evans and Jackson are going to be your top two (and maybe the best duo in the MAC), but Jackson-Anderson was a big recruit who got some playing time last year, Moss and Smith are both still around, and Edified said Deion Brown is already here for spring ball. Unless Blake Corum wants to transfer over I think we are set 03-rotfl

I'll take the bait. How much NIL for Corum? 250k, 500k, 1M, more? 03-lmfao

I say 500k + 250 x 2 for two starting OLs from UofM. I'd think that would be just fine. 03-lmfao

Unless Blake Corum wants to transfer over I think we are set 03-rotfl

But the staff keeps handing new tight end offers. That may tell you something.

We don't need a TE or RB
Thanks for pointing this out

They are doing that to prepare for the future not for this season
