Inshallah it works out, the league really needs a decent program in Tampa
You are correct.
He won’t excite the base right away, that was looking for Deion or another bigger name.
He will have to prove himself from the start. Who he can bring as DC and recruit right away will say a lot to the fans.
Reality is that after the Scott years it won’t take much to improve on and give hope.
Next years out of conference schedule is the easiest we have had in years with: FAMU and Alabama at home and Western Kentucky , UConn on the road.
If he can manage 3 or 4 wins next year it would be a good start for him
Glad we didn’t dish out 4 million a year for Chadwell.
Serious question... Do you really think with FAMU, WK, and Uconn on our OOC schedule... and UH/UCF/Cin gone from the conference schedule... that 3-4 wins is a good start?
I mean... the offense is not that bad... even with a mediocre defense we'd have won 3-4 this season... Winning six next season should not be unreasonable given who we play...?
You're usually the glass-half-full guy... wondering why you have the tempered expectations...
Did you saw our defense this year? It was horrific 41.2 pts a game and undersized DL. My point is that our new coach’s success will depend on who he hires as DC and how he recruits. If he solves both those issues and can create a defense that allows 30 -32 points a game, then we have a shot at winning 5-6 games. Can he do that? We shall see.
If our defense still allowing 40 points a game next year, then yes winning 3-4 games is best we can hope so.
Unless we upgrade our defense expecting 6 wins next year is pie in the sky.
Yeah I happened to see it...
All I can say is we're hiring a new coach... for the expressed purpose of NOT being as God awful next season. Scott was clearly way out of his league. I'm assuming that almost any competent coach can give is at least a mediocre defense. Supposed to be getting someone proven.
I think we're in agreement on Defense... I'm just saying that if this guy can only win 3 games with THIS schedule... well I expect a bit more...

I would love more than three, but as I said major rebuilding on defense is needed and facts are that USF has only one FBS win in three years, so even three in one year is a huge improvement

RE: Alex Golesh New USF Coach
I genuinely don’t know how he’ll do. Golesh was part of the reason Horn and McClain ended up with you guys. He’s not the best recruiter and didn’t call plays. He could be a better program builder than Scott and the system will work well for you guys but it’s feast or famine.

Time will tell. If he can run the Tennessee offense that hopefully he learned from Heupel and recruits a decent DC he could be a success.
But who knows we have seen people that looked great on paper and were busts in real time and vice versa
