As of this post, Akron was 69th in RPI and Kent was 71st... big gap between the two of them and the rest of the conference.

Marshall beats Akron 68-57

This one wasn't close at all. We were up 18 with a minute to play, they got a couple garbage time 3's.

Looks like the 1 point loss to Queens was a fluke, because this Marshall squad can play D.

I like RPI, but this early in the season, it gets really wonky

I mean, we have a lethal back court with two senior guards, and a 7-1 freshman phenom at center...

RPI always shows funky stuff at the beginning. The more data it has the better it works. Even at the end of the season people claim there isn't enough data points for it to work well enough. So they switched to NET rankings.

I'd still have Louisiana at the top. Probably Southern Miss #2, Marshall #3....

But yeah, still too early to tell.
