Shane Beamer stands alone...
This is the most surprising stat I've seen from South Carolina's enormously pleasing shellacking of the Volunteers last night -

"Shane Beamer is the first FBS coach since 1978 FBS/FCS split to win twice by 20+ points as a 20+ point dog. The Gamecocks were 20.5-dogs when they beat Florida last season. #Gamecocks

— Brandon Zimmerman (@BZSEC) November 20, 2022"

I know most upsets are closely fought affairs, but surprised this has NEVER happened before going back to 1978. Anybody know of a list of coaches who have done it once, or maybe schools that have done it more than once just under different coaches?

Good news. The Gamecocks got players healthy and the offense got clicking. Shane Beamer is building the program the right way.

Young Beamer has also lost some head scratchers too. I like him and think he's going to do better things, but his team isn't the only part that needs to grow in consistency. He'll really get a major buy-in if he can carry the Tennessee energy to a win over Clemson! I'll be a Gamecock fan for that one!

Not trying to be a downer, just curious, but what the heck is going on with S. Carolina basketball?

Let's hope so, would be awfully nice to not let Clemson get their longest ever winning streak in the series at 8 games! I'm very happy with the season come what may though, not being a SC native the Clemson game never carried as much weight for me. I'm more interested in the conference games, and especially Tennessee due to some obnoxious family members. Getting the A&M monkey off our backs this year was great too, and would have been very disappointing to take another loss there with the way their season has ended up. You're right about the head scratching losses though, I'd say Mizzou both this year and last, and Kentucky last year, were games we should have won. Both years too we've had to sweat the wins over Vanderbilt, although things worked out in the end.

Sorry can't help you on any basketball issues, maybe somebody who follows it can answer. i don't care much for basketball and pay zero attention to it outside of a mild interest in March Madness.

I guess this kind of upset is even rarer than I realized, according to garnetandblackattack.com our 63 points last night were the most an unranked team has ever scored on a Top 5 team since the AP poll began -

It's interesting to see how the narrative has changes so many times on Rattler. He was great, he was a heisman hopeful, he was a washout, now he's...pretty good?

Well we weren't a 20 point dog this week and didn't win by 20+, but I wonder how many times an unranked team has beaten a Top 10 team 2 weeks in a row?

Are you saying it’s not real basketball if they can’t dunk?

Not at all. South Carolina has a woman who can dunk the ball. There was speculation as to whether she would in an actual game.

Sorry, I'm late here, but with basketball it's really quite simple - Frank Martin encouraged every player worth his salt to transfer and the new coach wasn't able to fill spots quickly enough. On top of that one of our top transfers, such as he was, went down with an ACL injury during the summer.

GG Jackson is an excellent player and should be a lottery pick but unfortunately he's being wasted on a team with maybe 1-2 other SEC level rotation players.

She did in another game.
