Any reason Toledo did not offer this 6’10” big man from near by Rossford?

I believe he’s committed to Indiana State

We need “bigs,” wish we could keep a local guy.

Haven't heard a lot about him, but Rossford is expected to win their league this year. Just watched a highlight reel. Lots of dunks. Kid isn't a bean-pole. Definitely looks MAC level athletism. Long arms around bucket and has a mid range jumper. Not a lot of defense in the reel I watched against typical HS competition. Seems like he'd be worth a long look. Not sure why he's not getting more buzz, unless he has an outstanding Senior Season.

I just saw on 247 sports that Vorst had 5 teams mentioned on this site, but no offers from the likes of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio U, OSU or Okla. No mention of Indiana State.

RE: Derek Vorst
You are probably already aware but his father, Brian, was a big man in high school then got pretty mammoth at Findlay. He's still a monster but is a kind-hearted guy, I just heard that you wouldn't want to piss him off on the court. The point is that those Putnam County bigs have growth potential. I know that the modern game prefers people that can move but the strength and conditioning staff can help that.

RE: Derek Vorst
According to Steve Junga with the blah back in February the Rockets were "following" Vorst but apparently the Rockets or Vorst backed away -

"The University of Toledo has been in contact for more than a year, with more recent interest coming from Ohio State, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, Ohio, and Central Florida."

Too bad TK and Vorst dropped off the radar with each other, it it is true, this young man could have done better than the Sycamores of ISU.

This is the kind of big man that signs with Wright State, then many of us on this board ask, “why didn’t we get this guy?”

Hope it’s not too late.

Well, this thread answers the question “Who IS that kid?” I kept seeing this young man working out with a trainer at my gym. Wondered who he was. Figured he was a player but he’s got a college body- thought he must play for some small college around here. Young man certainly looks the part of an athletic post. Now I know who he is.

I wonder if his history of knee injuries scared away some of his suitors.

His injury history is an issue according to his dad. I talked to him last spring. He taught a class my daughter was in at Rossford. According to his dad at that time he was still very interested in the Rockets and was hoping for an offer. I see 5 offers listed on Verbal commits Indiana State Wright State College of Charleston, Findlay and Ashland.

Vorst I guess was offered by WSU. Another player UT offered signed with the Raiders. his name is Drey Carter, 6-8 190 fromWesterville. Besides UT, he was offered by Kent, Miami, and Illinois of Chicago.
