I like our matchup, but would rather have had a later date. UTSA did want a “destination” bowl, so Orlando does fill that requirement.

CUSA has no contract other than letting espn have content for espn+ so why would they have "first choice of CUSA". Link?

Don’t know why, just know they do. Same reason we went to Frisco Bowl last year instead of NOB or INDY like many thought.

Meanwhile, ESPN does their best to avoid G5 vs. $ilver$poon conferences bowl matchups

RE: Bowls???
I'm reasonably happy with playing Toledo. Liberty is going to have a hard time. We are in the middle of a coaching change, had our best LB hit the transfer portal, and our best DE is skipping the bowl to prepare for the draft. Also we lost our 1st or 2nd best offensive player in Dae Dae Hunter to injury. Toledo's the favorite and should be, but I'd rather play them than a P5 or unbeatable team. And Boca Raton bowl is a good location.

Not a single bowl is on ESPN+, not sure where you are reading this.

They say the Boca station is coming online by the end of December and Orlando I believe 3rd Qtr next year. Looking forward to it.

I really don't know what yall are talking about but assume its a high speed train from Orlando to Boca? How fast is this train? Might have to try it out next year on our off days at Disney if it'll save a couple hours....I average 95 to 100, till I get a ticket but its been a few years so I drive fast

But...I guess watching a ho-hum game between 5-7 teams while eating Christmas dinner is better than listening to Crazy Uncle Joe as Oblunder tells it.

There are certainly too many bowls. With the incoming 12 team playoff, I think the NCAA needs to seriously look at reducing the number of trash bowls. Playoffs, and bowls for teams finishing with 7 FBS wins or more. No more .500 teams or waivers. Maybe the FCS playoffs could fill those mid-December dates for TV.

I just don’t understand that idea that there are too many bowls. If you don’t want to watch or don’t think a 6-6 team or a 5-7 team should play in a bowl it’s real simple, don’t watch it.

I don’t watch most of them but if someone wants to watch and these kids enjoy it the more the merrier. What’s the harm? The teams get additional practice time, the players get to play, the school gets a little additional coverage and someone is making some money.

Totally agree. I will be watching as many as I can, especially those involving CUSA teams, current and future. Rice and NMSU included.

And, did C-USA hand the better bowls to WKU and MTSU? Seems like UTSA should have played Troy in the New Orleans Bowl.

Our admin took the easy route, as usual. Don't have to work hard to sell tickets, nice free trip with entourage. Same old. Same old.

Expect more of the same in future years.

Groundhog Day.

I would feel at least a little bad for you except your Raiders are in the exact bowl I was hoping UTEP would be in and against the exact opponent I would have liked to see them play. One more measley win might have accomplished that and I would have been happy and your bowl may have been within driving distance. Oh well. There is always next year.

I’m ok with our bowl selection & opponent. We had a disappointing year, but are decently favored over Miami of Ohio. This will be my first trip to The Bahamas, and also my very first cruise (which is docked at precisely the right time). I hate that most of our diehards won’t be able to make the trip, but I was able to make it work for me. This will be the 2nd UAB bowl game I’ve attended. My first was the 2018 Boca Bowl.
