UCF will finish this iteration of the AAC as the conference’s top football program
Thanks to Tulane’s and UCF’s victories this weekend, Cinci will have sit out the conference championship game, and UCF will secure the most conference championships in the last 10 years, the best conference winning percentage, and the most BCS/NY6 games.
I’ve seen a lot of Cinci fans running their mouth the last few years about how they own the conference and that’s a classic case of recency bias. Funny to think about about how USF, Cinci, Rutgers, etc would say UCF would be a bottom feeder in the Big East when we were working to join. UCF knew it could compete and came in and proved it on the field.
Anyways, Tulane’s had a heck of a season, and they might very well win next weekend. But it won’t change the overall body of work for UCF. So that is what it is.
It’s been a fun conference, better overall than I think most national pundits expected, and one that earned a lot of respect as evidenced by the de-facto NY6 bid. Good luck to everyone’s programs moving forward.

I hope Tulane wins this year.
I agree with you to an extent. Some Cincy fans are obnoxious, but many others are good in my book. But the same can be said for all of our fanbases.
Good luck in the B12. Seems like an odd fit for a Florida team, but I guess it will grow on me.

The most impressive thing is UCF has done it with multiple coaches.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but it would be an interesting storyline if Tulane wins next week and then goes on to become the torch bearer for the new version of the AAC. This would be sort of a passing of the torch. Obviously hoping UCF wins, but Tulane has been a great story this year with all that program has been through.

UCF is a great program. I don't see them slowing down in the B12 either. I look forward to UC/UCF developing more of a rivalry in our new conference

I think Tulsa says otherwise, as they always have with UCF.

Tulsa certainly had our number. There were a few crazy ECU games over the years as well.

Oh I can’t wait to never have to play Tulsa and Navy again. Y’all have our number and then some.
But yes, AAC 1.0 belongs to UCF. And I will look back at it fondly.

That may be true, but UCF hasn't dominated the AAC in its first decade.
Five different AAC programs have won championships between 2013 and 2022, and seven have finished in the AP top 25. In addition, an eighth (Tulsa) finished in the CFP poll a year or two ago.
When people review the first decade of the American, they'll take note of the fact that there was quite a bit of variation in the number of dominant programs from year to year - - probably as much or more than there was in the Big Ten during the same period.

Congratulations to UCF. You guys have been the most consistently good program. I think you will do well in the Big XII.
However, I will be rooting for Tulane to win this year’s championship game. They’ve had a great season and their fans deserve it!

If we win on Saturday, that will be 5 out of 10 AAC titles and 4 NY6 games. The next closest is Cincinnati with 3.
We also have what nobody else in this conference could do and that is a NY6 win. We didn't just show up, but we won twice and lost a close 3rd to a team that went on to be one of the most dominant teams in the last decade the next season.
We may not have dominated the conference Bama style for 10 years, but it is undisputed that we had a better 10 year run than any other school. And we did it with 4 different coaches. Gus could be the 4th coach to win the AAC and have a NY6 appearance in the last 10 years with UCF. That is exceptional for any school.

Really sucks to see Fritz leave Tulane. Hope to see ya'll keep the momentum going with a new head coach.
