Chicago State versus Marquette
Marquette (RV in coaches poll) trailed Chicago by as many as 6 for about a 7 minute period, but surged late in the first half to take the lead by 7 at the half. The Cougars stayed fairly close throughout most of the 2nd and ended up with a 14 point loss in Milwaukee 82-68. In the second half, the Cougars fell behind by 20 briefly, before getting the lead down to 10 with a 1:20 left, but could not get closer as Marquette hit their late free throws.

Chicago has now lost its last 3 games by 14 or under against some quality teams. They are going to start picking some of these teams off. Horrible teams lose to Big East teams by 40 or 50, not 14. There will be more wins coming if they keep playing well.

RE: Chicago State versus Marquette
Agree completely. This is one of the better teams we have had in a while, and evidently one of our better coaches. We are not embarrassing ourselves. There are some winnable games in the second half of the season, which should help our players finish with a good taste in their mouths. (Gonzaga might be ugly.) We just need to find a conference home very badly. Right now Sagarin has Northeast, SWAC, Southland and MEAC as the bottom four conference. We can compete against those teams, right now. And we have only one senior, so presumably we will return most of our talent next year.

On the women's side, Coach Williams has a hard job, since she basically had to rebuild the entire roster. But she only has 12 players on the roster and four of them are seniors, so she will have a chance to upgrade the roster before next season.
