RE: Who are the top candidates for AAC offensive player of the year?
i dont think there is clear front runner
my guess in order of likelyhood
1) pratt (tula)- best player on best team
2) tank dell (uh)- most media hyped player in the league
3) tune (uh) - best qb stats in the league
4) mordecai (smu)/ ahlers (ecu) - qbs have an edge
5) Rice (smu)
6) Keaton Mitchell (ecu)
7) Keylon Stokes (tulsa)

I get that how good of a season the team has matters but I do think Keaton Mitchell has been the best player. Should he be penalized because ECU has the 130th pass D in the nation?
Keaton missed almost the entire Navy game due to an early injury in that contest and then was extremely limited in the next game vs Tulane. He also had to leave games early due to concussion protocol in consecutive games vs BYU & Cincy. You could make the argument that KM injuries were responsible for 3 of ECU’s 4 conference losses (although it may have not been a difference vs Tulane since ECU lost by 15). While his 1325 rushing yds are tops in the AAC and top 15 nationally, he leads the nation in yds per rush at 7.4 and is also a receiving threat with nearly 250 yds. He covers up a lot of play calling flaws. The dude is the fastest player in college football and has great vision. He really is like CJ2k 2.0.

He isn't going to win any awards, but you would be hard pressed to convince me Brian Battie isn't one of the most electric backs in the AAC. Yeah, I know bad team and all, I get that.
Battie finished with 1,186 yards rushing, 5 straight 100 yard games to end the year, and 6.7 YPC. He finished with these 5 games, 106 yards vs. Houston, 129 vs. Temple, 145 vs. SMU, 169 vs. Tulsa, and 144 vs. UCF. He also rushed for 150 yards vs. Florida.
I hope USF is able to retain him next year under the new coach.

I think you can say the same thing about Keaton Mitchell.

I was super impressed with Battie. Friggin bowling bowl that bounces off tacklers.

He also didn’t even play vs USF. That in conjunction with all of the forgoing tells me he might be pushing 2k yds if not for a few injuries along the way.
