RE: APR Bowl Race - Final Week
From what I understand, JMU could be eligible for a bowl game if there are not enough teams to make the bowl games. I think the SBC and JMU would be wanting the waiver for them to go to the bowl.

That stopped happening a few years ago, along with the 2 FCS win teams getting priority.

JMU is 8-3 and they beat only one FCS team. They beat number 23 Coastal Carolina. The issue is, you all were saying they should be in a bowl game if they go unbeaten, but now they can't with a winning record of 8-3? You all are a bunch of flip floppers like a fish on the ground on this issue. JMU should go bowling, and they should.

Buffalo took the lead 17-16 late in the 3rd. Looking at the ESPN highlights of their last TD, there might be 5 or 6 people in the stadium (excluding the teams and referees).

Akron strikes back!

22-17 Zips, early 4th Q

Well, nobody can say they didn't come to play.

The camera angle looking straight into the end zone showed right at the left edge of the screen that there's more than 5 or 6 in the main grandstand, but not a lot -- nowhere close to a quarter full ... and with the main grandstand that empty, the visitor side is going to have even fewer.

Now 22-17 Akron

[edit] Long interception, still 22-17 Akron 3:16 Akron inside the Buffalo 40.
[edit] Akron on first play after the pick fumbled the football away.,
[edit] Buffalo with reception on the 1, receiver spun around in tackle, reach football back behind his back to break the plane and score the touchdown. 23-22 Buffalo after failed 2 point conversion attempt.
[edit] Pick by Buffalo, V for Victory formations. Buffalo win and go bowling

Wow. That came down to the wire. Tough news for UNLV, but since they already fired their coach, guess they were already well along in putting this season behind them.

There (still) is a rule that permits schools in their second year of transition to FBS that play an FBS schedule to play a bowl game if there are not enough actual FBS teams.

From the NCAA-DI perspective JMU is not an FBS school.

There is another rule that permits schools to count wins over 1st year transitioning schools that play an FBS schedule. So wins over JMU count as FBS wins, while those over Sam Houston and Jacksonville State count as FCS wins.

Without this rule, Georgia Southern would not be bowl-eligible, since they had already counted their win over Morgan State.

Each year, transitioning schools have to be approved to advance to the next year of transition. On rare occasions, a school is required to repeat a year. It is conceivable that JMU could ask to skip the second year of transition.

I believe that's what JMU wants to do which is why they were willing to let it be this year
