EMU ML and WMU-Toledo Under 53 were as solid of MAC bets as any this season.

Thank goodness, don't have to watch this NIU team anymore. What a terrible loss. That's the type of loss and season that would get most head coaches fired.

Congrats to Akron for ending that long losing streak!

Congrats to Kent State for a nice comeback win too!

RE: Week 13 MAC Football Gamethread
Looking at the (mostly) final standings it appears the MAC East turned out to be the better division this year. Funny how all the MAC West people who have been vocal wanting a single table format didn't talk about division realignment this year...

Screw division realignment...Get rid of divisions like other conferences are doing.

It's one year. The MAC West has won crossover standings every season prior. I would still drop divisions so you get the two best teams.

This was in the game notes for NIU's game vs. Akron this week.

Quote:DIVISION HOPPING: NIU has won 27 of its last 34 regular season games versus MAC East opponents and is 31-8 versus MAC East teams since 2008.

Exactly. Its been wmu and Miami fans that opposed it in this boars. Ive been for top 2 teams all along.

I dont feel Toledo deserves this at all. Perhaps the clinch led to loss 2 and 3, but still. EMU vs Ohio makes sense. Ohio vs. BG if it wasnt a week 13 rematch is deserved as well. Sorry UB, the Akron postponement Fs any judgement i could have on your team. Toledo vs. Ohio is possibly the 2 best rosters at least? I remember 2014 when BG went 0-4 vs. the West. Thats more aggregious than what we get next Saturday. But the thought remains. Basketball and football should aim to get the best 2 teams. So if thats regular season champ vs. mini playoff to find the 2nd team? By all means.

RE: Week 13 MAC Football Gamethread
I have very strong opinions about this topic. For basketball it makes absolutely no difference. For football having two divisions is perfect and I have already stated the reasons several times. The Sunbelt agrees, our AD's and Presidents agree. Now I do agree that if divisions have been uneven, that ought to be corrected. Reviewing the divisions results periodically and then switch a couple of teams for a period of time would correct that. Switching BG and Toledo for a few years would be an example, since recently UT has been stronger. Switching Miami and Ball State for a few years would also be no hardship on either program, just right now those programs have been fairly even so it would not change the balance as much as BG-Toledo.

RE: Week 13 MAC Football Gamethread
The divisions are fantastic. We should keep them, even if the East is better than the West. While the teams in the West aren't quite as good at football, we should give them an opportunity to play their way into the MAC championship game anyway. This keeps the season more interesting for more teams.

Bowling Green has improved. Not as much as we want, but 2022 was definitely better than 2021 for us.

EMU would have been alive in this scenario. Also Buffalo... MORE teams invested for the last game. Toledo clinched with 2 left! Idk who would win the 4 way tie at 5-3. Not Toledo.
