Good thing we closed off part of our (formerly) 74,000 capacity stadium, or that percentage would look really bad.

However, I wonder how we would rank if the the comparison was instead a percentage of the undergraduate student body.

In that case, our number would be 4.692, over 4-1/2 times our student body enrollment (19011/4052). How did the rest of you do on that measurement?

As for the tickets sold vs butts in seats argument, it is also a measure of support that people buy season tickets they cannot or will not use. In my case, I live 300 miles from the stadium.

I’ve always wondered about the Rice revenue numbers. But it is clear some boosters are buying thousands of football season tickets and donating them. Another data point is availability of tickets on game day in the home sections between the 40 yard lines. These seats just aren’t available for purchase. Has to be the donated season tickets.

If somebody is buying thousands of tickets and donating them, why not buy them farther out to the sides? Counts the same.

I used to respond to the requests to buy tickets for donation, but only 10-20 at a time. Once I went to see who, if anybody, was in my donated seats. It was a brownie troop, and nobody was paying attention to the game, which was good in a way since the seats were on the 10 yard line.

Because it is a football town.

I was about to ask the question. Where did the 36k or whatever number come from?

Pretty sure they limit it to the lower bowl

Generally we limit tickets to the lower bowl unless we have a high profile matchup. The upper bowl was available for the CUSA championship

I would also imagine UAB's season ticket sales were probably pretty strong coming into this season since UAB had a streak of 5 consecutive winning seasons (43-20). Without intending to get into another discussion of sold tickets vs butts in seats, it seems that would've at least given UAB a strong base.

Only one side of the upper bowl was available. The other three sides were partitioned off.
