The U.S. plays against Wales at 1:00 CT if anyone is keeping up with the World Cup. Maybe I’m way too optimistic but if our guys play to their potential I think a QF appearance is definitely feasible and maybe more.

I'm skeptical...

Would rather not get my hopes up and be pleasantly surprised, than the latter. It's gonna take many more years, and an embracement of the international style of possession at the youth level to make improvements.

Not sure if its the timing in the holiday season, or all the controversies surrounding it, or maybe expectations for the current US squad, but I don't feel as excited or invested in the World Cup at the moment. Maybe that will change if we take the full 3 points from Wales?

This is a young US side - on average we're the 2nd youngest in the World Cup ahead of only Ghana. The US National Team has been building in anticipation for when we host in 2026, not 2022 - so this will feel more like a practice run for the next World Cup, as well as to see if it will be Berhalter leading the national team for the next cycle or not.

I don't think we'll have to wait around too much longer to know our ultimate fate as I think this Wales match will tell the tale of where we'll finish in the cup. I think I'll be content with advancing from the group so long as we look competitive doing so. We'd be looking at likely the Netherlands in the Round of 16, and I would be shocked if we advance past them.

I wouldn't say needed 3, but definitely more pressure on us because we basically have to at the very least tie with England and beat Iran. Need Wales to drop at least one game.
