RE: Gulf Coast Showcase
Looking back, and I know some of these teams still have games in the conference tournament but was curious how the field ended up looking. This still shows we need to play in better tournaments if we wish to prepare ourselves better. The bracket clearly had the good teams all together and we are opposite of them and managed not to face any until our last game (which we lost in a close one).

That being said, there did end up being 2 top 100 teams in this tournament. So when there are so few opportunities to perform, you have to take them. And our '11-'12 team saw that first hand, though we were gifted the opportunity to face UVA that we squandered. But better scheduling need to happen. We should get back to having some buy road games. I have always felt Spiker has scheduled softly, which doesnt do the team a lot of good come crunch time.

1. FGCU- NET 179, finished 10th in the ASun (16-15 overall)
2. Kansas City- NET 306, finished 7th in the Summit (10-20 overall)
3. Indiana State- NET 93, finished 5th in the MVC (21-12 overall)
4. Drexel- NET 194, finished 5th in the CAA (16-15 overall)
5. ECU- NET 209, finished 9th in the AAC (15-16 overall)
6. UT Arlington- NET 257, finished 10th in the WAC (8-20 overall)
7. Toledo- NET 81, finished 1st in the MAC (24-6 overall)
8. Northern Kentucky- NET 169, finished 4th in the Horizon (18-12 overall)

Props to Kansas City. Beat the top 2 teams on their way to runner up. Especially since they only won 8 games outside of this tournament for the season.

RE: Gulf Coast Showcase
Honest question: Has anyone ever shown any kind of correlation between playing a tough out of conference schedule and winning in-conference games? I get the idea. Just wondering if any stat nerds have shown it to be true.

Here's the NET for all of Drexel's out of conference opponents.
Seton Hall - 75
Indiana St. - 93
Princeton - 118
Temple - 121
Penn - 140
ODU - 156
FGCU - 179
La Salle - 242
Fairfield - 250
UT Arlington - 257
Lafayette - 271
Del. St. - 354

Seems fine to me. Seton Hall and Temple wound up middle of the pack in their conferences.

Overall, Drexel went:
0-1 vs Q1
1-4 vs Q2
3-5 vs Q3
12-5 vs Q4

Would turning a couple of those games into Q1 losses made much of a difference?

This season, no it wouldnt have because we just werent that good. As shown, schedule ended up alright, we just werent good against good teams and feasted on bad ones (until the CAA, where we feasted early on bad teams then started losing everywhere and winning at home exclusively)
