I will be honest, bad loss for Liberty 76-72 at home to 4-0 Southern Miss. Inside LU circles there is worry that McKay's Pack Line defense won't translate to the next level in CUSA. He recruits a lot of tough, hard-nosed, hustle type players. That was fine for the most part in the ASUN. But in CUSA, the players are longer and more athletic, and I don't think Liberty's basketball recruiting has been up to the standards it needs to be. Is it because big offensive scorers don't want to play in a lower scoring Pack Line defense?

That’s what it looks like. Hope he enjoys the NIL $$$ at Maryland.

I also had this concern. Liberty will be in the top third with that method-- and will win some big league games- BUT VERY few championships in BB UNTIL they recruit more skilled players.

RE: Basketball week of Nov 14th-November 20th
Additional comment concerning Liberty basketball.

Question for Flames fans.

I noticed you have few or NONE in the way of national linear TV games in conference.

The new C-USA media deal:

18 games on CBSSportsNet AND a minimum of five games on ESPN stations. Also opportunity for games to be added during the season. BB tourney finals and semis also on cbssportsnet.

That is a minimum of 25 games on national TV.

Will this help your RECRUITING in BASKETBALL??

If yes--- how can you be somewhat sure of this?

Could your coach be on the "WARM" seat??????????

Southern Miss might be putting things together they did smack Vandy pretty bad but they were awful the last few years. Haven't even won 10 games in s season since 2018-19. Heck they can win the Sun Belt at that rate.

Rubin Jones and Tylor Perry making their first appearances of the season tonight against Fresno State. Instant offense. Changes everything for this team. Mean Green up 20-10 with 10:40 to go in the first.

Indeed, not a bad night for CUSA.

North Texas beats Fresno State 61-52 in Denton.

Rice just came back from a big half-time deficit to defeat Houston Nondenominational University 76-67, including getting 25 from a Freshman guard Mekhi Mason (was 24-41 at half).

WKU, tallest team in America was destroyed yesterday on the boards by one of the smallest teams in America, 43 rebounds to just 16. Gonna be another long season for WKU. Sorry CUSA.

There has been a complete overhaul of the players at Southern Miss since last season with lots of transfers in and out. The biggest addition is a new assistant coach that brought some talent along with him. Crowley is a 6-5 G transfer from Ole Miss that had a good game at Liberty and Haase is a 6-9 F transfer from Mercer (by way of Chile) that is very skilled as a shooter and passer. Those 2 guys are playing extremely well together and the team has gelled much more quickly than anybody thought it would with so many new players. (10 players played 9 or more minutes at Liberty) Unfortunately, our talented PG transfer from Mercer, Alvarez, will be out about a month after his injury in the 3rd game. He was missed on the court a great deal at Liberty as he creates on the offensive end and disrupts on defense. All in all, this team is improved and fun to watch on both ends of the court... a lot of tough matchup zone on defense and good ball movement and spacing on offense.

Is anyone watching UAB face Georgia. UAB looks legit, and they are leading the Dawgs by 7 right now in the second half. The game is on CBS Sports if any of y'all want to check it out. It certainly looks like the C-USA title is UAB's for the taking if the rest of us don't get a whole lot better.

UAB really turned up the intensity in the second half and UGA had no answer. By far the most impressed I've been with UAB so far this season. Hopefully it continues.
