Providence
NU heads down I-95 to face Providence tonight at 8pm. The game will be on FS2.
This is the first time the two teams have met since 2010 and it’s the first time for BC assistant coaches Bill Coen and Ed Cooley have gone up against each other.
Providence escaped earlier this week with a 1-point win at home vs. Rider. I watch most of the 2nd half and Providence got lucky in that one (surprisingly).
NU could find a way to win this but there are a few “ifs”. Cormier has to play more than McClintock, Pridgen has to be healthy and Telfort, Woods and Troutman have to all play well,
End of the day, that’s too many for us to win tonight IMO.

I agree but this time of the year it's fun to just see the new guys and watch them fit in and adjust to college ball.
I didn't watch any of the Rider game but I know that they returned all five starters while Providence had all new starters. Early in the season that can be a factor, too. Providence has a big talent advantage.

@JonRothstein
Several years ago, Ed Cooley and Bill Coen were integral parts of Al Skinner's staff at Boston College.
Tonight, they go head-to-head as the head coaches of Providence and Northeastern.

Lots of positives so far. Love Turner's energy and game. Cormier grabbed some of McClintock's second half minutes.

RE: Providence
A lot of positives for sure. A lot better than the BU game.
I was pleasantly surprised Turner was playing. I thought he was out until the London trip. His shooting ability is as advertised. I was also surprised by Stucke’s effort tonight. I was starting to question why he was deserving to start. I mean he hasn’t played well or shown any consistency since his freshman year. His first shot hit the top of the backboard and I REALLY started to wonder why he was out there. But he started to knock down shots and get in the paint.
If THIS is the Stucke we all thought was coming to NU, that will be a HUGE help.
This team has so much more speed and I liked the fact Coen implored them to run and push the pace. He has a fast PG, who after tonight, SHOULD be the starter. McClintock off the bench please. I’ve had enough of Glen, even though he has a excellent first name! :)

RE: Providence
I think it's fair to say that both Stucke and Telfort had a sophomore slump. We need both of them to bounce back and give some upperclass leadership.
I want to see a lot more of Turner.
Cormier has earned a start. Glen is steady but not creative. (not talking about you, Wiz) Cormier is quicker, a scorer, plays better defence and I'm anxious to see if he can keep repeating tonight's box score. I'm pulling for him.
