Congrats to Everlyn Kemboi of UVU who won the NCAA Regional at UNM this morning. She ran a 19:47 and won by about 8 seconds. The team finished up in 7th place.

The UVU men finished in 10th.

Cal Bap women and men each finished 5th in the West Regional. They will have to wait and see if either can sneak into nationals via at large bids.

WAC Champion California Baptist and runner up Utah Valley women’s team each received at large bids to the NCAA Championship November 19. 31 are represented at the national meet.

Irene Rono of Abilene Christian is an individual qualifier for nationals.

No men’s teams or individuals qualified.

Looks like a pretty good representation for the WAC.

Articles about the qualifying teams.

Both are first time qualifiers for women’s cross country. CBU is in its very first season of eligibility and this was the first sport to complete its NCAA qualification. Kind of nice that they made it at the very first opportunity in the first season. CBU has already competed in NCAA water polo however, but it’s not 3 division sport so is a little different.

Utah Valley finished the 26th team in the nation at the women’s NCAA Cross Country Championship. Lead by star Everlyn Kemboi who placed in the top 20 as an individual to become an All American.

Cal Bap had a very disappointing performance and finished in 29th. With a wind chill of 17 at race time, the ladies from Riverside did not run well at all. Teams the Lancers have beaten all season long finished with well ahead of them in this race.

Irene Rono of Abilene Christian finished in the 110th spot.
