1) Indeed winning 6 games in 5 of the last 6 seasons is quite an accomplishment!! Kudos to CC, staff and players!!! Well done!!
2) Very nice to close out the game with running the ball and setting up in the victory formation. Howie makes a significant difference in the OL performance. Samson Evan’s is a stud! It would be great to establish a running game that could garner 175 yards + per game. This would propel us into next season.
3) Smith should remain the starter for the remainder of the season and Cam Ron McCoy should be his backup. Let’s see what Cam can do!!
4) The defense is the weak link of the team so moving forward we need to concentrate on building our numbers with quality DTs, DRs and LBs. My frustration a couple of seasons ago we had 25 safeties/corners on the roster. Lately our recruiting seems to be more balanced by getting more defensive front into the program.
5) With that said so glad our last two classes have some quality DL.

I am so glad that we won but KSU will be very very difficult!

Finally, I suggest no corny themes such as “stack ‘em” season after season.

I know it's been mentioned here before a few times, but we can't overlook how Gomez and Tomasek have stepped right into some HUGE shoes and just kept our special teams special.

Quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Captain for the Red Wings, Outfield for the Yankees, Punter and Kicker for EMU

They've really impressed. I thought losing Jake and Chad would kill ST but Mitch and Jesus have performed very well.

I’m not patting myself on the back but merely pointing out there’s No-Way we’re winning the MAC with RF defensive linemen (Carter Evans,Peyton Price, Melvin Swindle) with injuries to Alex Merritt and Mikey Haney. Not giving Neathery an excuse but this DL was too inexperienced and too many injuries.

BTW, where are Adrian Gonzalez and Sterling Miles? Have they been in rotation?

Luckey, I agree with you completely. I am really high on Peyton, Melvin and Carter Evans but they are still too young. I expect them to Ball out next year.

I'm happy we won and I think they will get to 7-5 which is what I predicted at beginning if season

I mentioned this in another thread but I REALLY hope CC would hire an outside consultant who could provide feedback of how to get us from good to great.

I think the gimmicky stuff has to go. It worked for a while but I really think the players and recruits are over it. Just play ball and win. No more gray field, hammers, walls Just play.

Insightful as always. Hard-hitting questions from the SID.

Why bother?

You picked Akron to win so you obviously must think Creighton did a great job to pull the upset (in your mind). He won a game you didn't think he could, right? I'm confused, shouldn't you be happy?

Who wouldn’t be? It was an inspiring, invigorating victory.

I mean, I’d rather have this than nothing?

If we don’t have any media covering it from Detroit or MLive or whatever, what do you expect? Not the SIDs job to ask hard-hitting questions.

You vendetta against that department is wild to me.

I don’t have a vendetta against the AD. I have nothing bad to say about basketball, the Olympic sports, etc. I’m not a fan of the football leadership, obviously.

I guess I’d rather have nothing than general platitudes that offer no real content. If there’s no press, you don’t need a “press conference”.

Mostly fluff, but it was nice to hear him address the penalty issue. This team can't afford to shoot themselves in the foot the way they keep doing. Too many of the penalties they get are a pure matter of personal discipline on the field. There is no excuse for a dead-ball foul or a delay-of-game coming off a kickoff or a timeout. Those have to be cleaned up if they expect to win a bowl game.

Agreed, Cid. These games typically come down to a possession and a few penalties can absolutely make the difference in the outcome. The most head scratching ones lately have been the delay of game coming out of a timeout or intermission. That's coaching

Agreed. I have seen Creighton teams that were near pristine regarding penalties, and I did not like them. Holding, PI and even some late hits are often the just the product of aggression and need a certain level of acceptance. Sparacio got a targeting call early in the season when he launched for the tackle and the ball carrier 's head dropped into his angle of attack. Rachwal also had a similar infraction, but Myrick and Speights never had such a problem because they simply were seldom attacking on their tackles.

As you say, however, dead-ball fouls and procedure penalties are indeed due to a lack of discipline and coaching. Those need to be cleaned up for sure and I am glad Coach is acknowledging it.

I'll guess EMU is say an 11 or 12 point favorite. Don't know the network yet. There are 3 MACtion games next Tuesday.

When are you going to setup a thread for the Kent State game?
