TV Deal...
Complete joke of a deal even Texas Judy admits. “Hopefully 5 years from now will be more attractive.” Doubt that’s happening with a FCS conference. WKU fans really going to complain when HC is 11/12 and wind chill in 30s..The crowd may suck now, but the tailgating was lit. All that’s gone because Judy wanted ESPNU and ESPNNEWS games. This will also kill WKU in transfer portal. Zero transfers want 5 games in October on a Tuesday. At least with MAC, NOv no one outside anyways. Please get us to MAC! Of course half the conference likes this, this is all FCS schools know…

Man I really feel for you guys. A Tuesday night home game vs. Kennesaw State on CBS Sports Network would be so demoralizing with what WKU has accomplished. I guess the basketball TV package is an improvement at least and I’m assuming they’ll all be linear CBSSN or ESPN+ which makes things easier.

I hope the SBC calls y’all home

Why are you bashing KSU and not another school? Who else should C-USA get that is within there footprint that is better at football that has the budget to move up?

Nothing against KSU. Just a new add from FCS. WKU goes from being a top tier CUSA team hosting established championship level programs Marshall, UAB, and UTSA to Tuesday night games with fresh FCS call-ups.

I guess I used KSU specifically because I was familiar with JSU and SHSU before being added but had really no knowledge of KSU. I didn’t even know y’all were in Georgia.

WKU has been competitive with the top end of everyone who left and will now be relegated to early weeknight games against fresh FCS call ups making less than half of what UAB and UTSA will be making on better network coverage and time slots. It sucks fie them and their fans. They deserve better. I’d hope the conference would prioritize WKU, LaTech, and Middle to get the Friday home slots at the least

They are really gonna be hurting when they lose that Tuesday night home game vs KSU.
But I do understand all the flack. KSU is the last man up after all.

With the correct hire and the portal it doesnt have to take 3 to 5 years to catch up after moving to FBS. The key to any move up is make sure your coach has a good offensive system in place. Along with good contacts to hire a staff with FBS experience. There is a difference in overall talent level and if a staff only has FCS experience sometimes they miss judge the talent needed. Personally I believe was UNCC's problem with hiring Healy.

All it takes is being completive and winning to get that "moveup" monkey off a schools back. Like I said the portal can get that done a lot quicker, today.

The MAC plays their entire conference games on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during November. Plus, they are farther up north which is colder. You do know when we were in the SBC, we played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in October. It was plenty warm.

I recall some fans claiming Saturday games on Facebook were better than mid-week games on ESPN.

I think this is a better setup, the teams get exposure with no other competition those nights. It will hurt attendance, but hopefully just impacting one or two home games per season.

I hardly post but I’m always lurking. NM State fan here and this is so exciting to me. I mean do y’all see what I see? Yes mid week games aren’t the best to fill up the stands, However more national exposure will help tremendously. The Sun Belt has accepted its fate has the SEC Juco league and they will forever just beat each other up. We have our own cash cow in Liberty. They have the potential to reach the AQ bowl in year 1. Plus less teams to split the CFP. And I going to say our basketball league will win some games in the tourney. I’m not to confident in saying that other G5s will have a better product than CUSA. Sun belt is the after though of the south, and the same could be said about the MAC. Who cares about BIG 10 light. No offense to those fans but this league feels a lot like the old WAC and that league was really fun to watch.

More money and more exposure. Midweek games suck, but I don’t think that was avoidable. Overall a net positive for C-USA.

My biggest problem is not playing midweek games for exposure, it is playing them on CBS Sports Net which offers very little exposure. Get those games on ESPN/2 and it’s an easier pill to swallow. Money was about what I expected. Would just like this more is CBS we’re willing to at least toss us a broadcast network bone for champ games vs the much more obscure sports net we will end up on.

You do realize that if you went to the MAC the entrance fee is 5M and you would be stuck there for 20 years. You would lose money in the long run and it would take years for you to brake even. 800K a year is almost double what you get now and get more exposure.

Also the FCS schools they got was really FBS schools in the FCS with G5 budgets out side of SHSU.

We need to get rid of our coach. He needs to go too army or navy. It is hard to get fire of a coach who is 65-19 and won 3 conference championships in 6 seasons.

RE: TV Deal...
CUSA basically doubled their media money and increased their exposure 10x. This is a good deal. Barely less than the super duper stable MAC for a conference that was left for dead last year ain't bad.

You guys also keep missing an important part of the future monetary puzzle. This new CUSA has 7 or 8 schools with more football and basketball potential than ANY member of the MAC. In fact, it has one in Liberty that's as already grown up and would have a great shot to get to get the NY6 if they were already in the conference, and that money will be greater than any near future media deal.. Future playoff cash will be even better..You guys might not see it yet, but in many ways CUSA is in a better place today than they were 2 years ago..

Agree with this. I think this is a big upgrade over the current deal.

It’s not the best deal but it’s not the worst either. We have five years to improve the product on the field and court and once that happens a better tv deal with Saturday games will come along.

You must understand that some fans forget that their school is still in a G-5 conference.
