Is Rice injured? He is the only player that did not get any time in the Wayne St game- so I assumed he was injured.

Thanks for the info. Explains why he didn't play last night. Wish him a quick recovery.

Interesting that NBA player Ja Morant sent Emoni Bates a tweet…it said something about…”keeping your energy going little bro”
I guess Emoni has big time connections:-)

There were 17 lead changes in the Michigan game, 7-ties, and Michigan scored 4 more points than EMU on fastbrakes. EMU's bench outscored Michigan's bench.
Michigan scored 42-points in the paint compared to EMU's 30-points. That's one reason EMU needed to shoot more three's, but didn't.

Getting personal encouragement from Ja Morant (Murray State) is going to do nothing but help! EMU basketball is must see TV nationally. Truly this is ONCE in a lifetime. This is our shot, enjoy every second of it. Larry Bird had his Robin (Carl Nicks) at Indiana State but not much else. Emoni has Noah and a really solid supporting cast with a lot of potential. I loved our Sweet 16 team but this feels different. I was telling someone that this kind of feels like the U-D phenomenon in the late 70's when I was a little kid. It started slowly and then everyone jumped on the bandwagon when the W's piled up at Calihan along with the exciting show they gave people.

I kept telling my family that is Eastern’s guy (only me and my son Daniel go to Eastern games). Great job representing!!
Curious, was the game announcer Michigan’s guy? He seemed very biased- may have been playing to the audience that was majority Michigan fans.

Thanks for sharing this… I rewatched the game yesterday… Noah Farrakhan was AMAZING in that game. I had no idea how well he played watching it live. Clearly his best game with EMU. Miggy mentioned he should have shot more 3s, but NO ONE could stop his drives.
I also noted in my rewatch, Noah was devestated by the outcome of the game. Put a towel over his head when he fouled out. When you play that memorable of a game, you probably want the memory to include victory. Oh well, hopefully there will be more this season.

The PA announcer was provided by U-M.

And that was just their first regular season game together. To be that in-sync already...look out MAC, there's never been a 1-2 punch like this in the conference, period.

Bob, thanks for sharing this find!! EMU needs to WAKE UP and market the heck out of these two basketball juggernauts!!! I’m going to take this video and share on Facebook. This is where all of us need to help get the word out on our dynamic duo.
Last year Noah played 1 on 5. I loved Brice McBride and Darrion Spottsville but let’s face it, neither one of these players had an offensive game and would not see the floor this season.

True, as Noah went off in the second half of the Indiana game. While acknowledging that I'm biased, if Monty Scott had shot 15 fga's or more in the Indiana game and not Golson, who shot 4-15 on fga's, EMU would have likely beaten Indiana.

RE: How Does EMU Match Up Against UofM and Can We Win?
Does anyone else feel like Emoni should have been more aggressive down the stretch? It seems funny to say since the big criticism about him has always been he's "selfish" and "takes too many shots" and I understand he's still developing, thought he did a great job of playing within the offense and flow of the game. Towards the end of the game when Noah was out with four fouls we had what seemed to be a one or three point lead most of the time and I thought if Emoni tried to take over we could have grown the lead a little bit. Instead it seemed like there were too many possession when he passed or didn't even touch the ball.
Overall a very entertaining game! A bummer we didn't pull it out, but we played well and showed a lot of heart I thought. It's hard to tell what a team full of new transfers and/or freshmen will be like, but based on early returns this should be a team that contends for the MAC.

Well said sellers!!! I believe Emoni plays better off the ball, meaning within the confines of the offense with the floor evenly spaced. Memphis having Emoni try to play PG didn’t work but Emoni felt real comfortable on Friday within the offense. I believe you’ll see Emoni develop more of a takeover player as the season progresses and as he gets stronger and older. As Miggy stated, he can’t let the ball get ripped away from him. I do agree when Noah’s on the bench, Emoni needs to be more forceful which could include Drive and dish!

EMU's continual fouling did them in. Can't let Michigan take 13 more foul shots than EMU did. Very hard to overcome.
I thought Noah should have shot far more than did in the second half. Thanks

wonder how many season tickets they sold this weekend.
that game ruled. sucks we didnt win. me and my friends kept yelling 'give it to bates' which seems like good strategy.
lets ride this rocket until it explodes - we're in for a real fun year.

At this early stage, we should not be talking about a player taking over a game.
With that said, Noah is in a better position to do so as he did so in the second half of the Indiana game. Also, his approach is to create space to get a clean shot. Bates does not have that mind-se as yet. One reason you saw his shot blocked. But hopefully he'll learn to look for open space. He's not there yet. Don't want to see contested shots or real long shots at the end of games.
