(To my fellow UCF Fans: None of the Bull fans are going to take the bait. They are just waiting for us, Knight fans, to go to the Big 12 boards this July.)
After a quick google search. Yes, Jeff Scott signed an extension January 25th, 2022.
USF Coaches took a pay cut as pandemic budget adjustment. So the extensions were essentially to make the USF coaches whole again with more time added to the end of their deals.

I don't know what the finances look like for USF but its probably better than most think. I'll say one thing about Michael Kelly, he's smart and has done well considering his circumstances. Kelly was very conservative with his pandemic budget. Based on the Twitter rumors and Tampa Bay Times allusions, it seems his forecasting for the AAC budget going forward was conservative too. AAC didn't take a major hit with the ESPN deal. AAC secured a fair early exit fee from departing programs. That means Kelly's budget might be better than anticipated.
It sounds like Kelly is opting to hire the coach himself without a Search Firm. That's in line with the financially prudent Kelly.
Right now, based on Twitter, USF fans a very divided. I don't know if there is a candidate out there that will check all the boxes. Kelly really liked Scott. I expect another Boy Scout with a sterling reputation. USF has always prioritized academics as their predominant culture. This era of USF reminds me a lot of a G5 version of Miami under Randy Shannon and Al Golden without the Nevin Shapiro types lurking in the background.
I, personally, think Randy Shannon is a good fit for USF. He's been a bit of a journeyman in the state but he's by far the most experienced coach in the state. He'll be able to recruit with best of them. Most High School coaches have attended coaching clinics from Shannon for decades now. I don't think I've met a high school coach down here that doesn't have a personal relationship with Shannon. FSU's Defense is Top25 again since he was named DC. His Miami HC record was a long time ago with an administration that wasn't supporting the football team like it does under Cristobal. He was also a young HC when he was with Miami and he's a lot more experienced now. That's just my 2 cents as an outside observer.
