ACU plays a sloppy second half but beats Jackson State 65-59. This was after leading the first half by 20 points. We went stone cold in the second half, but our D and a few great plays sealed the game. Airion Simmons, our preseason all-conference guy, is a remarkable athlete for his size. I want him on the football team playing tight end. The guy is so coordinated. Jackson State will give some a tough game going forward.

UTA falls 77-66.

With what I saw, we aren't conference champs, but we aren't 10 or 11th either.

Lamar Wilkerson hit the game winner for SH, but also hit 5-6 3 pointers for the game. In such a low scoring game, his 3’s were huge. Outside of him, SH was 1 of 17 and OU was only 5 of 19. Nice game for him tonight.

Only disappointing loss was California Baptist at home to Long Beach State. And the most impressive win of the night was Sam Houston's 52-51 win over Oklahoma on their court.

Good summary... so the WAC goes 5-6 on opening the season and once again pulls a shocker with Sam's win over the Sooners.

Yes, against D1 opponents the WAC went 5-6 for the night. NMSU and SFA put up gawdy numbers against lower division opponents. Performances of note...

Sam Houston's Lamar Wilkinson scored 17 points including the game winning shot over Oklahoma. He shot 5-6 from 3-point range and also had 3 steals on the night.

Seattle's Cam Tyson scored 35 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the win over UC San Diego.

Stephen F. Austins' Sadaidriene Hall had 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, and 7 steals in the Lumberjacks' blowout win over LeTourneau

Southern Utah's Tevian Jones had 28 point and 5 rebounds in a losing effort against UNM.

Cal Baptist's Riley Battin had 16 points and 13 rebounds in a home loss to Long Beach State

New Mexico State's Deshawndre Washington tallied a triple-double 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists in his season opener debut against New Mexico Highlands.

I am disappointed by CBU. Long Beach is picked 3rd in the Big West and received 1 first place vote. But it’s still a Big West team…

Cam Tyson was a 1 man band last night w/o him going 12-18 (7-12 from 3) UCSD probably wins a tight one at home.

Brutal first half for the GCU. Can't afford many more starts like that this season, as they'll end up as ugly losses on most nights. Lopes dodged a bullet and have a lot to figure out.

Will need to go back and watch the SHSU vs OU game for sure. 04-cheers

The new Moody atmosphere surpassed my expectations with all the lighting and interactive aspects. Hopefully we can keep the crowds coming. We didn't pack the house, but not bad for a Monday night. The guys really put a scare into me with how cold they went, but the defense didn't give up and the shots finally fell when needed. Going from a 20-point to a 4-point lead is hopefully something we don't repeat. Jackson State was very quick and athletic. I was impressed with their play and adjustments. I don't think that we are taking TAMU to double OT again.

To spin it to a positive, they fought, even though they weren't playing well in the 1st half, to come back and win. It could be one of those lessons learned without having to take an L. I'm glad they won.

GO AGGIES!!!

Which games other than the power 5’s?

Guessing he means New Mexico, Nevada, Utah State, and UCSD.

New Mexico Utah St Long Beach ST were the other 3 I saw that I figured WAC teams would lose.

The Puget Sound PG looked like he should be playing offensive line for the Loggers not hoops... lol
